Race Info

This race will start at Mack Dick Pavilion in the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon State Park. You will run a variety of trails from smooth single track, to sand, rock, and short but steep technical ascents and descents. The 4 mileish is a loop on the Comanche/Kiowa trails. The half marathonish will go further into the canyon where you will see red rock walls, bluffs and cottonwood trees by a stream.

Aid Station

One aid station located approximately half way at Mesquite. Please plan accordinly to carry enough fluids and nutrition to support you.
Keep in mind, this is a cupless race. Plan to carry your own hydration bottle, pack, cup, etc. to refill at the aid station.
Aid station will be stocked with water, Hyperlyte Liquid Performance drink mix, coke, ginger ale, pickle juice, gels, grapes, bananas, and assorted sweet and salty snacks.

Need to make Changes?

There is no charge to drop down to a shorter distance, but there is no refund! There will be a charge to move up in distance.
No race day changes!
No rollovers or refunds, for any reason, including inclement weather.

Your registration fee includes a hot delicious meal post race.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are dogs allowed on the course with you? For the safety of everyone (paticipants and spectators) no dogs are allowed on course. Although, we love dogs, we ask for the safety of you and other participants that you do not run with your fury friend.
2. Do I need trail specific shoes? Highly recommended for better traction on slippery or uneven surfaces, though not mandatory.
3. Can I walk sections of the course? Yes, almost everyone walks at some point. Trail running is about experiencing the beauty of the canyon and all it's surroundings.
4. Can I change my race distance? Yes, we allow participants to change distances up until race week. You can do this through our registration partner, UltraSignup. We do not offer refunds or credits to go down in distance. To move up you will pay the difference in price. NO RACE DAY CHANGES!
No rollovers, refunds, and/or credit for any reason including inclement weather.
5. Do we allow trekking poles? Yes
6. Can I have a pacer? No, we don't allow any pacers in either race distance.
7. Can I wear headphones? No, all runners are expected to listen and respond to audio cues so that they know when to start the race and when to move out of the way or stop while on course. If you're listening to music during the race, you may not be able to hear these important cues from race officials and other runners on the trail.
