D.U.M.B.= Dunns Ultra Marathon Badasses

That's right we are some Bada$$es! to tackle this awesome terrain at the beautiful Dunns Creek State Park in Pomona Park, Florida just south of Palatka. This trail system has just about everything a Florida trail offers, EXCEPT no swamp :) and while there might not be any gators lurking there is a bountiful of other wildlife you might get to experience. We at Sombrero Running Events like to explore and challenge ourselves mentally and physically as we experience TRAIL THERAPY and this awesome 11.75 mile ish looped course will challenge you as you traverse this diverse terrain. You will get to see the natural landscape consisting of longleaf pines, wiregrass and sandpine scrub that protects several endangered and threathened species such as the gopher tortoise, fox squirrel and other native animals. We can't wait for you to experience this beautiful state park and all that it offers, and establish history as the first 100 miler in its history!

Charity Partner

Our charity for this event is Sombrero Outreach Foundation which is a 501c3 non profit organization the assist other with financial resources needs in the running and recovery community. They support/sponsors runners to do races as well as assist them in time of need. They also give back to the recovery community by financial assistance for those seeking a life free of alcohol and/or drugs and assist them in obtaining adequate/safe residential living. Refunds

We don't offer refunds for this event, however, if you give ample notification of not being able to attend due to illness/injury we can defer you to either next year's event or another sombrero event of equal distance/pricing.

Course

All distances ( except the 8k) will traverse this mixed terrain 11.75 ish mile loop with some gradual inclines/declines and also up to the top of " Mt. Maars" at the 15k mark where you will see some spectacular views of the forest below you. There is some open areas that goes through some lush prairies and canopied forest with 2 shallow water crossings ( there are 2 foot bridges you can utilize if you want instead of the water crossings, but you might lose your Badass status with your buddies if you do :) ). This course offers a challenging and scenic route of compact grass and forest service roads and some nice wide terrain with some sugar sand areas but easily runnable in those spots and the last 1.5 mile of each loop is on the asphalt road leading back to runners village.

Runner's Village

There will be a huge parking area that is compact grass that will be located directly where the start / finish line will be and you can crew yourself at runners village right next to your vehicle by setting up a tent / canopy or bringing in a RV as well. If you are wanting to camp out on friday night before the race there is a $30 fee the state park charges to do so. This will be a central hub for everyone and you can grill and chill at your convenience and Dunns Creek is the backdrop to the parking area. As per state park regulations no alcohol is allowed on their premises, you can have propane heaters and if there is no drought conditions open flames will be allowed ( this is subject to change as per park regulations and we will let you know what is acceptable )

RUNNER SWAG

We are going to have some awesome 1 of a kind belt buckles for the 100 mile distance and a mini buckle for the 100k distance ( yes rucker's you will get a patch , a mini buckle, and a medal) and custom D.U.M.B. medals to everyone as well as awesome giveaway items TBD.
