Our Race

Out with the old and in with the new! But before saying good-bye to 2021 and welcoming in 2022, join us for one last long run of the year - The Run Your Past Off 3 hour or 6 Hour run! Just like the end of the year and the dawn of new beginnings, you will start your run as the sun sets and run on into the night. Only you know how the story ends.

Both the 3- Hour and 6-Hour events start at 4 PM, January 1, 2022. Depending on your event, you will have either three or six hours to complete as many loops as you can before the course closes.

How It Works

This is a timed event. Runners are expected to cover as many miles on our main loop as they can within their designated event times. No partial loops will be calculated into the final results.

This is a Night Run!

Except for the first 45 minutes, this race will be run in the dark. Unless you have unusually adept night vision (not likely), headlamps and/or flashlights will be REQUIRED to run this event.

Start/Finish

The event will start and finish next to the Main Lodge at Camp Sinawa. This building is heated, so you can warm your tootsies between loops.

Lodging

We have overnight stay options for our race on January 1st. If you would like the ease of staying over after you finish the race, contact Camp Sinawa to make a reservation. Here's more information: https://campsinawa.com/rentals/family/ or call directly at 920-827-6811 or email them at campsinawa@gmail.com

Course

The course consists of a marked 2.85 mile loop, which will return you back to the lodge after each circuit so you can warm up, access your "drop bag," and log your loop. The loop consists of primarily wooded double-track and some pavement. The shorter 1ish-mile loop will be part pavement and partially wooded.

Aid Station

We will have an aid station at the start/finish lodge, where we will have hot soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and other more typical ultrarunner foods and drinks available. If you have special dietary needs or just something you cannot live without, you are invited to bring your own bag or cooler and "drop" it in the pavilion for access during the event.

Registration

Online registration will open July 5, 2021, and will remain open until December 27, 2021, at 4 p.m. Day-of registration will only be available at the event if there are spots available. Registration cost increases on September 1, 2021, and again on November 1, 2021.

Speaking of swag....all participants are guaranteed a warm embroidered hat and a custom finisher cup. There are no guarantees for swag for participants who register after December 27.

Awards

Awards will be given as follows:

  • Top 5 Male - 6-Hour Ultra

  • Top 5 Female - 6-Hour Ultra

  • Top 5 Male - 3-Hour Event

  • Top 5 Female - 3-Hour Event

In the Event of...Weather Information

Our 2017 event, our inaugural year, had wind chills down to 25 below zero at the end of our event. And, no, we're not kidding! It surprised us, too. While Wisconsin winters can be cold, that was a bit extreme, even for us. So, our first thought is, it couldn't get worse, right? Well, in our 2018 event, it started snowing just 2 hours before the race start and we ended up with 8" of fresh, fluffy snow! Could this year be better? Maybe. Or worse? Maybe. In the event of extreme weather - either in the form of even more ridiculously cold temperatures, or insurmountable snow (i.e., we cannot get plowed out in time), we do reserve the right to cancel this event. If we do have to make the sad call to cancel, we will do so by 12 noon, January 1, 2022, and post that information on Facebook. In the event of cancellation, we will do our best to plan a make-up date. Failing that, we apologize in advance, but no refunds will be available.

Event Swapping

In the rare event that you sign up for one event but then decide to do the other, you may switch events before the race begins on race day at our registration table. Runners looking to drop from the 6-Hour to the 3-Hour may do so, but will NOT receive a refund for the price difference. Runners looking to go from the 3-Hour event to the 6-Hour may do so by paying the difference between the 3-Hour cost and the 6-Hour. No event swapping will be allowed after the event starts. So, if you get two hours and 59 minutes into your 6-Hour event and decide to be done, your mileage will still count for the 6-Hour event.

Refund Policy

Sorry, but no refunds will be given for any reason, including, but not limited to: injury, illness, travel difficulties, you got a better offer for New Year's Eve, weather malfunctions, or acts of God. But, really, we expect that if you are signing up for a 3-Hour or 6-Hour trail run, at night, in winter, in Wisconsin, then you really, really want to do it. Right?
