Race Description
This is the 12th annual Team Red Shamrock Trail Challenge to benefit Red Shamrock Foundation (RSF). The race was previously held in Hickory Hill Park, Iowa City at the 5k distance. This year we are excited to offer 10 mile and 5K distances at a new location, starting at the Coralville Creekside Park! The 10 mile runners will start at 9:00 AM with the 5K starting around 9:05.
5K awards ceremony will begin around 10:00 AM and the 10 mile awards will start around 11:15. We would like 10 mile participants to finish within 2 1/2 hours but we will not pull anyone from the course.

Course Info
The 5K and 10 mile will have the same start/finish line, with the 5K runners turning around at the 2ish mile point with another 1 mile back to the finish line.
The 10 mile runners will run a 5 mile loop twice.
The route will be on grass, dirt, and paved trail. The hilliest section is the first mile when you'll ascend the grass Cross trail. The route will then go through the Cross/Flow trails, onto either the dirt single track or the paved Clear Creek Trail (again, depending on conditions). We don't want to trash the dirt single track. The trail goes under Deer Creek Rd. This is where the 5K runners will turn and head back to the finish.
After going under Deer Creek Rd, the 10 mile route will continue onto mowed trail through the Altmaier Family Park & Disc Golf Course, which runs along Clear Creek and you will cross Deer Creek. The course meanders through the disc golf course, crosses the creek again, then picks up the dirt single track again along Clear Creek or onto the paved Clear Creek Trail to the ballpark where you go through the start/finish and begin another loop. There will be an aid station near the timing table for the 10 milers to avoid any potential congestion. This is preliminary and subject to change.
Aid Stations: There will be water and snacks at the start/finish. We will have an aid station near the buildings on the Altmaier section of the course. There is a port-a-potty at Altmaier and flush toilets and running water at the start/finish.
