FELLOWSHIP OF THE PURPLE KNIGHT-DRAGONS
Twas the dark ages. Intelligence, chivalry, and imagination were a mere memory. The Squirrel's knee was dead. The Doctors of Hernia Operation had runneth him through. He needed a hero. In fact, he needeth many champions. (That'd be you). Ye shall travel up to the tower to greet Rapnuzzle, face The Norse, confront the Great Bloodsucker, and traverse the forbidden seas (OK, it's the Dan River). Be brave noble knight! Your shire is counting on you!
To prepare thee fully for what you are signing up for: 11ish miles, 1600' of gain, 2400' of downhill, two rock scrambles, and a third of a mile in a river. You will summit the Knob of Moores, visit the Hour of Rock, and see the Stone Wolf.
We are also asking everyone to arrange a ride either too or from the start/finish area. We will be starting at the Lake and finishing at the Green Heron Ale House. Our Squires (volunteers) will be helping shuttle people), but they can only fit so many people in their car at a time, and we cannot afford a shuttle bus this year.
We plan to have aid stations at miles 2.3, 4.5, 5.5, 7, and 8.5.
