ABOUT THE RACE

BC Backyard Ultra is hosted in Little Mountain Park in Salmon Arm, British Columbia and supports the Canadian Championship Series & Big Dog's Backyard Ultra World Championship.

The trails that make up the Shuswap Ultra route(s) are within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation.
It is a privilege to experience the preservation & beauty of these lands.

The Backyard format is inclusive and gives opportunity to run with community, set a personal record, challenge/lean on each another & experience an event that brings racers back to home base over and over again...until you meet your own finish line.

The BC Backyard Ultra is the annual kick off to the Canadian Series & is an approved SILVER TICKET event, in support of the Canadian Championship and Big's Backyard Ultra World Championship.

2022: The winner of the BC Backyard Ultra will receive the silver coin & an invitation to participate in the 2022 Canadian Championship (the winner of the 2022 Canadian Championship will have opportunity to compete in the 2023 World Championship at Big Dog's Backyard).

2023: The winner of the BC Backyard Ultra will receive cash prizing (35 laps or less [$700 winner/$300 assist], 35+ laps [$1000 winner/$500 assist]) and opportunity to compete in the 2023 World Championship, At-Large (an additional 25 runners will be selected off the 'At-Large' list to complete in the 2023 World Championship at Big Dog's Backyard).

2024: The winner of the BC Backyard Ultra will receive the silver coin & an invitation to participate in the 2024 Canadian Championship (the winner of the 2024 Canadian Championship will have opportunity to compete in the 2025 World Championship at Big Dog's Backyard).

The BC Backyard Ultra will host 100 racers & there is no waitlist.

Every hour on the hour, runners must complete 6706 meters (4.167 miles/6.7056 kms).

Three minutes before the top of the hour, three whistles will blow.

Two minutes before the top of the hour, two whistles will blow.

One minute before the top of the hour, one whistle will blow. Time to make your way to the starting chute.

When the bell rings at the start of the hour, you must be present, ready to go and in the starting chute.

When one runner remains, they will complete one last loop, a victory loop.

There is only one winner; all other participants will DNF (did not finish).

THE INSPIRATION

BC Backyard Ultra, hosted by Lewiston Ultra Events is inspired by community and time spent with mastermind, Lazarus Lake.

The BC Backyard Ultra gives back to community/volunteer organizations and shareholders.

REGISTRATION

BC Backyard Ultra is $150 CDN (+GST & UltraSignup fee).

Participants must be 19 years of age or older on race day.

*AMEX (AMERICAN EXPRESS & DISCOVERY) cards are not accepted methods of payment

Lewiston Ultra Events does not offer refunds and there is no waitlist.

Registration is transferable until 8am on April 15, 2024 for a $20 administration fee. There are no transfers after 8am on April 15, 2024 – no exceptions. Transfer requests can be sent to kara@thelewistonultra.com

Registration will close April 15 @ 8am or when the race fills; whichever comes first.

THE COURSE

The BC Backyard Ultra is staged at Little Mountain Park/Little Mountain Park Field House (250-30th St SE, Salmon Arm, British Columbia).

The BC Backyard Ultra offers a daytime route on trail, a nighttime route on road & an exceptional staging area with cheer, community & all the high fives.
