Welcome to race #1 of the Bulldog Challenge Series.

A quad-burning, glute searing and ego breaking 10k among the red rocks of Topanga.
LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!

Tucked away in magnificent Red Rock Canyon, Topanga, this hidden gem has it all from steep uphills, epic views, a descent to the finish like no other, and even an incredible singletrack section!

The 2025 Red Rock Rumble offers a winner takes all cash prize and the fastest "Local Legend" award for Topanga's local runners!! This event also features a Hiker's Delight, a non-timed, early start directly to the Calabasas Peak summit.

Kids, get ready to race!! The 1/2-mile course for the little ones shares the start and finish of the 10k course, but turns around at the Red Rock Caves. The 1.5-mile course for the young teens climbs a super fun winding singletrack to the top of a red rock cliff before running down to the finish chute.

Finisher medals, overall winners and age group awards are handcrafted by local artists, the shirts are soft, a sweet design, and fit specific to women and men and include a technical running shirt option!!

Sip some coffee before the start, enjoy a hard-earned breakfast after the race, check out the post-race festival, or make runner friends in the beer garden over your race adventures. There'll be plenty of breakfast and places to sit for everyone. Stick around for the awards ceremony honoring the fastest runners!

The Bulldog Challenge Series

  1. Start with the Red Rock Rumble 10k in June
  2. Work your way up to the Tough Mugu 25k in July
    Get a finish at the Bulldog Ultra 50k in August

    Rules for the Points:
    1. Points are awarded based on your finish time as a percentage time of the winner’s time in the race.
    2. The winner receives the maximum points (100), and everyone else gets a percentage of that maximum.
    3. Women and men are scored separately within their divisions based on the winning time in that division.
    4. A age group categories are scored within their gender based on the winning time in that gender
    5. Only the longest distances from all 3 races in the series are scored (10k, 25k, 50k).

    Series Awards

    1. All Series Finishers: earn your adidas TERREX Bulldog Challenge Jacket when you cross the final finish line at the Bulldog Ultra 50k.
    2. Age Group Points: the highest female and male scorers in each age group by 10-year categories
    3. Overall Series Champions: the highest female and male scorers based on the series points

    10k winner takes all $500 cash prize for the fastest overall runners in the 2025 Red Rock Rumble (woman & man):

    Must be present at Awards Ceremony to collect.

    Winners of the 10k are invited to compete in the SoCalTrail Championships in December at the Crystal Cove Trail Run

    The Course

    The Red Rock Rumble course is steep, rugged and incredibly beautiful.
    This 10k course has roughly 1,360 ft’ of vertical gain and loss.
    10k Strava Route
    Aid Stations serving Skratch Hydration, Crank e-Gels (Calabasas Peak only) and water located at miles:
    1.8 & 3.6

    The Red Rock Rumble course runs 90% on fireroads of varying condition, with a 1/2-mile of exciting singletrack, through oak forests, chaparral, wildflowers, over red sandstone cliffs and along a seasonal creek. Runners will have amazing views of the Backbone Trail and Saddle Peak all the way to Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean as they climb the local Calabasas Peak. There are two major climbs and a downhill finish like no other. Get ready to turn it on for the final half-mile sprint!!


    The Hiker's Delight appeals to the non-competitive folks, featuring an early start and less vert, but with full access to all aid stations and all the swag. The Hiker's Delight is a non-timed event.
    This 4.5 mile course has roughly 1,075 ft’ of vertical gain and loss.

    This 1.5 miles kids' race is for ages from 11-16, has roughly 266 ft’ of vertical gain and loss.
    1.5-mile Kids Strava Route
    Starting out on the 10k course, the first stop is at the Red Rock Caves around a quarter-mile in. Runners then turn right onto the Boy Scout's Trail, a singletrack weaving between rock formations. The turn-around check-point is on a Red Rock cliff, before running downhill all the way to the finish.


    This 1/2 mile kids' race is for ages 10 & under, has roughly 51 ft’ of vertical gain and loss.
    1/2-Mile Kids Strava Route
    The little runners take the Red Rock Fire Road alongside Red Rock Creek all the way to the Red Rock Caves before running downhill to the finish.

    Directions & Parking

    No onsite parking on race day.
    FREE Off-Site Parking and Shuttles on Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Topanga School Road
    All participants must take the shuttle. The race site is an approx. 0.6 miles walk from the shuttle drop-off location.

    No on-site parking on from Friday, June 21 at 12pm to Saturday, June 22 at 12pm.

    The Cause

    A portion of the proceeds from the 2025 Red Rock Rumble will be donated to LA Fire Station 69 in Topanga Canyon so they can keep our beautiful Santa Monica Mountains safe during the fire season.
