REGISTER BY DECEMBER 30th TO GUARANTEE YOUR SWAG

It’s like the Hell Hole Hundred, but without the scorching heat and humidity. Picture yourself conquering the same challenging course, but with a frosty twist. Depending on your distance you'll run a combination of 16 and 18 mile loops on the Jericho Horse Trail (check out the course overview/pacers section for more details!). You'll have 2 aid stations out on the course and one at the start/finish of each loop as well which means you won't need to carry a lot with you. We want to see all of you succeed out there and have an amazing team of volunteers ready to help you do just that.

One of our sponsors, BeesKnees, will be on site in the afternoon (exact times TBD) providing free recovery massages for our runners!

Youth runners: email kayla@palmettoultras.com for a discount code!

Location

These are the coordinates for the start/finish line....there really isn't an address: 33.200976, -79.767657

DO NOT put the address in Apple Maps---it will not take you to the correct location

GOOGLE MAPS does take you to the race start/finish line

There is a sign across the street from the turn to the race that says "Jericho Horse Trail"

There is also a sign across the street from that sign for the race

Course Overview & Pacers

The race takes place within the Francis Marion National Forest located outside Charleston, South Carolina.

The trail we run on is called the Jericho Horse Trail, there are two courses, a 16 mile loop and an 18 mile loop. Depending on your event…it will dictate what course or combination of courses you will run. A loop count for all distances can be found in the Runners Guide. Both courses consisting of dirt fire roads, single track trail.

The 10k course will run an out and back. Turnaround will be well marked and there is no aid on the 10k route so plan to carry any fluids you will need with you.

Pacers are welcome to join for the 50 miler and 100 miler at the halfway mark

It's good to be aware of any wildlife you may come across on the trails. This is not to scare you but rather to make you aware. You may see deer, gators, wild hogs, snakes, spiders, coyotes, and of course bugs. I will tell you that I personally spend a lot of time in these woods and have yet to have an encounter with most of those things. Remember that they are more scared of you and don't really want to hang out with smelly runners anyways.

The course will be very well marked. The Jericho Horse Trail also uses blue blazes. We are not the only ones out in these woods which means there's always the possibility of someone messing with our course markings. I HIGHLY recommend downloading the course map to your watch/phone. Alltrails allows for offline navigation so even in spots where you may not have great service you'll know where you're at.

Runners are welcome to keep a drop bag at the start/finish line or at their car/tent to resupply in between loops. 50/100 mile runners crew can also meet them at aid stations.

Because this is a looped course it makes it MUCH easier to manage nutrition/hydration/gear. It's flat which makes it a great course to go out for a new distance.

Aid Stations

We will have three fully stocked aid stations strategically placed along the course. The coordinates for aid stations can be found in the Runners Guide in case you need to have crew meet you there. Please share these coordinates with them before race day.

The main aid station at the start/finish line will not only offer all your usual ultra snacks like gummy bears, sour patch kids, potatoes, chips, pretzels, cold sodas, water, sports drink (and more!)-- but we'll also be serving up delicious food throughout the day. The menu is TBD

The 2 aid stations on the course will have all your usual ultra snacks like gummy bears, sour patch kids, potatoes, chips, pretzels, cold sodas, water, sports drink (and more!)

The 2 aid stations out on the course will also have some hot options available early morning/overnight to help keep you warm (broth, ramen, mashed potatoes, etc..)

Runners and volunteers will enjoy complimentary meals to refuel and recharge. For those not running or volunteering, a meal can be purchased for $5 via ultrasignup during registration or at the main aid station during the race.

Porta potties will be located at the start/finish line and both aid stations.

Runners are required to check in at each aid station so we know that you came through. Wear your bib somewhere on the front of your body so our volunteers can quickly get you in and out

Packet Pickup & Pre Race Fun

*NEW* Packet Pickup will be held on Thursday, January 9th from 11a-6pm at a location TBD.
As well as at the start/finish line from 630-7am on race day.
If you're running the night 50k you can also grab your packet at the start/finish line from 5-530pm before your race starts.
100 milers can grab their packets at the start/finish on Friday evening before the 7pm start

Start Times

All races start at 730am EST on Saturday, January 11th EXCEPT for the Night 50k which will start at 6pm on January 11th AND NEW for 2025---the 100 mile race will start Friday NIGHT at 7pm. This gives our 100 milers priority to set up camp and snag the closest parking spots. We moved the start time from 7am to 730am for 2025 based on feedback from ya'll----there's no need to make you carry a headlamp for just a few minutes before the sun comes up

Cutoffs/Awards/Swag

100 miles in 33 hours
100k in 22 hours
50 Miles in 19 hours
/>50k in 12 hours (both day and night events)
16 miles in 6 hours
If you complete your event within the time frame given, you are considered and “official” finisher you'll receive a handcrafted wooden medal from our favorite award guy: Hickory Handcrafted. He does a lot of our awards/finishers items and he always knocks it out of the park!

Top 3 males/females in each distance will receive an award: handmade marble coaster with the race logo (also by Hickory Handcrafted)

And those of you stepping up to tackle 100 miles---you'll have a shiny new buckle waiting for you at the finish line!

Everyone who registers will receive a cozy blanket that will be perfect to wrap up in and hang out by the fire after you finish!

Camping/Lodging/Canopies

You are able to camp out at the start/finish area starting Friday at 12pm and lasting through the duration of the race. Let me be super clear that this is NOT an official campground. There really isn't an open area for camping. You'll essentially be camping off the side of the road next to your car.

If that doesn't get you excited: Moncks Corner Inn is nearby and the town of Mount Pleasant is about 30 minutes away and has lots of hotel options.

100 milers are starting Friday night and will get priority to set up a canopy right by where each loop starts/finishes for easy access to crew.

All runners are welcome to set up a 10x10 canopy for your crew/family/etc.. to hang out and for you to use as your own aid station. On Saturday we will have volunteers helping with parking and we will do our best to get 100k and 50 mile runners parked as close as we can to the start/finish line so that you can have access to your car and/or set up a canopy close by.

The Trail and Use of the FMNF

The Trail

All events take place within the Hell Hole Swamp located in the heart of the Francis Marion National Forest located outside Charleston, South Carolina.

The trail we run on is called the Jericho Horse Trail, it’s a 16.3 mile loop through the forest consisting of dirt fire roads, single track trail and double track trail. It is a flat trail that is unforgiving. Past participants found it difficult due to the fact that there are zero hills, little elevation change and when they were on the course, they didn't know when to walk.

Information concerning Civil Rights and affiliation with the Francis Marion National Forest:

"In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. (Not all prohibited bases apply to all programs.) Frozen: H3 is operated under special use permit with the Francis Marion National Forest.

Night Running

Those running any distance that involves running at night will be required to have a light on them during night time hours (head lamp, waist lamp, flaming torch, etc..). We want you to have fun be we also want you to be safe and see where you're going. Be sure to bring a spare, batteries, chargers, etc.. If you don't have a light you're not running.

Volunteers

With our volunteer program you can earn free/discounted race entries by helping your fellow runners. If you run a "shorter" distance you could stick around and help out after. Night 50k runners could volunteer before their race starts. See the volunteer tab to sign up and I'll be in touch as the race gets closer.

12 hours volunteer time= 100% discount on any race entry
6 hours volunteer time = 50% discount on any race entry

These hours can be accumulated over several races. We love our volunteers and while you're out there we'll feed you and you get swag too!

Cancellation/Refund/BibTransfer Policy

The race will take place rain or shine. If for any reason the event has to be shut down due to extreme weather, natural disaster or zombies on the course (other than the runners…), you will be pulled from the course or held at an aid station until you can be removed from the course. Please, no arguing if this should happen. It is for your own safety

There are no refunds. I know this is frustrating but we have to plan and budget for each race. See bib transfer policy below

If you would like to change your distance you can do that here on ultrasignup before the race or the day of but you must do so before you cross the start line. There will be no distance changes after that point

If you can't make the event for whatever reason you do have the option to transfer your bib to another runner

Pregnancy & Postpartum Deferral: We love our mother runners and we get it---family comes first! If you find out your pregnant and don't feel comfortable running the race anymore or your post partum return to running timeline means the race is no longer feasible for you, we offer a 1 year deferral so you can come back and crush it when you're ready! You also have the option of transferring your bib to another runner right here on ultrasignup.
