DESCRIPTION
Certified 5 kilometer course on the paths of Heckscher State Park, East Islip. Enjoy stunning views of the Great South Bay with Fire Island as the backdrop!
Both distances start promptly at 8:30am. Race Course officially closes at 3:30pm for the Championship event.. Championship 50k runners have 7 hours maximum to complete their distance.
Course closes at 4:30 PM for all other partcipants. This year, we want EVERYONE who wants to complete these distances to be able to take a crack at it! 8 hours for both the 50k and 25k non-championship distances!
Your 26.2 mile split in the 50K will be a 2023 Boston Qualifier, but ONLY if you complete the full 50K distance.

We went ahead and plugged in all of the email addresses of every current GLIRC member as of 12.26.22 - this means that you absolutely MUST use the email address you associate with your RunSignup account and your GLIRC membership to register for this event so that you can receive your $10 discount!!!

USING VOLUNTEER POINTS
If you are a current GLIRC member and you wish to use your Volunteer points to sign up for this event, use code VOLUNTEER at checkout.
None of your pre-pandemic points have expired... but we WILL be checking to see if you have enough points. If you register using VOLUNTEER points and you do not have enough, we will be contacting you for payment. Payment must be received by March 5, 2023, or your registration will be CANCELED and you will have to sign up all over again with late registration pricing at whatever pricing the tier is set at on that day.

- Each runner will receive a long-sleeved shirt, in both men's and women's sizing

COURSE
USATF certified course - 5K loop.
The 50K will consist of 10 loops.
The 25K will consist of 5 loops.
There will be a timing mat for your marathon split. The half marathon distance is marked on the course.
AWARDS
There will be $3000 in prize money in the Championship 50K
50K Championship Cash Prizes – $500; $150; $100 for top three Male and Female Open and Masters finishers.
50k Championship: There will be $100 running store gift cards to the first five male and first five female finishers of the 50K who are from Long Island courtesy of Sayville-Smithtown Running Company and Runner's Edge.
There will be a $1000 bonus if the first male 50K finisher breaks the race record of 2:48:56 set by Tyler Jermann in 2017, or if the first female 50K finisher breaks Emily Harrison's race record of 3:15:00. There is a $1500 bonus if the first male 50K finisher breaks Josh Cox's National Record of 2:43:45 or if the first female 50K finisher breaks Des Linden's USATF National 50K record of 2:59:54.
No duplication of Cash Awards, except Course and National Record Bonus Awards.
Medals to top ten OA Male and Female USATF finishers to top three in five year age groups over 40, USATF members only.
YOU MUST BE A USATF MEMBER AND A UNITED STATES CITIZEN TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CASH AWARD!
25K AWARDS: There will be $100 running store gift cards to the first five male and first five female finishers of the 25K who are from Long Island courtesy of Sayville-Smithtown Running Company and Runner's Edge.
Trophies will be presented to the first male and female finishers OA in the 25K, and medals to the top three male and female finishers in 5 year age groups.
Athletes who participate in National Championships and Team USA competitions are subject to drug testing performed by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in accordance with the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing.
NOTE: Athletes may be subject to Drug Testing in accordance with USATF rules and IAAF Rule 144.
Participants in the 50K (non-championship race) are not eligible for any awards but will receive a finishers medal. (If you wish to compete for the Long Island awards, you MUST be registered for the Championship 50K).
PACKET PICKUP
Numbers and shirts can be picked up at Sayville Running Company at 19 Main Street Sayville, NY 11782 from 12pm - 5pm on Saturday, March 11th, 2023
Pick up is also available on Sunday, March 12th from 7:15am - 8:15am at Heckscher State Park in the tent near the start and finish at Field 4.
You will also be able to register at packet pick up or the morning of the race, cash or check will be needed.
BIB PLACEMENT
Please keep your bib # visible on your front torso!
For the best results with photo tagging and searching, the photographers need to clearly see your bib# when taking photos. This will greatly improve your name & bib# photo search results.
AID STATION
One Station per loop providing water, sports drink, gels, and food/snacks. Second aid station (fluids only) at the halfway point of each loop.
FACILITIES
Come dressed to run. Bathrooms at start/finish area and midpoint of loop available for duration of run.

COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN?
If you are coming from out of town and plan to stay in the host hotel for the race, the host hotel is the Courthouse Complex Courtyard Marriott located at 11 Court House Drive Central Islip, NY 11722.
