The course is a 3.1 mile loop with a climb of about 550 feet. One loop for the 5k, 5 loops for the 25k, and 10 loops for the 50K. The trails are mountain bike trails. With about 20 percent of the course being service road. The aid station will be at the start/finish area.
For those that want to review to course ahead of the race, we remind you that this is property of Massanutten Resorts. To run the trail you must be a pass holder, or a guest of a pass holder. Passes can be obtained from the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition website. The course is pretty straight forward. Take a right on the service road after leaving the parking lot. Cross the road and follow the trail as it winds through the woods. Cross the road and take a right heading up hill. After you see a stone wall off to the left you will make a left at the "T". Go straight past the "X" trail marker. At the "Y" trail marker take a left and head down hill. The trail will become service road, follow the service road until come out of the woods and the parking lot will be right in front of you.
The course will be well marked the day of the race.
The proceeds from this race will benefit a reading program for disadvantaged students at Elkton Elementary School. These children will participate in a field trip to the Green Valley Book Fair so that they have reading material at their level, and of their interest to keep them reading over the summer months. As part of the registration fee for this race all runners are to bring either a new or gently used book as a part of their entry fee. Read level for these materials should be on the elementary school level.
