Bus passes are $12/person and are not marked up. This is my cost. Anyone who will need a shuttle ride(runners, friends, family, etc.) must purchase a pass in order to ride the shuttle. More information can be found on the event web page at ascentruns.com.
THE MORNING SHUTTLE IS NOW FULL. POST - RACE SHUTTLES ARE STILL AVAILABLE. RUNNERS WHO PURCHASE A POST - RACE SHUTTLE MUST PARK AT SPOONER STATE PARK.
Patagonia technical short sleeved event shirts are available to purchase with registration for $35. There will be a regular fit in a men's and women's cut. The last day to purchase one will be September 24. There will not be any extra 2017 shirts to purchase on race day, only previous years. We apologize for the inconvenience but it just isn't right to have that type of quality product filling up my garage and not being used. Therefore there will be no exchanges as well.
Packet Pick Up/Onsite Registration
Packet Pick up will be held at Ascent Physical Therapy, 2350 S. Carson St. #4, from 4:30-6:30pm Friday Oct. 6. Onsite event registration will also be available during that time at a race day rate of $60. Race day packet pick up will be at the start of the race at Spooner State Park from 7-8:30AM. For those who purchased a pre-race shuttle, packet pick up will be at the finish line located next to Flume Trail Bikes behind Tunnel Creek Cafe from 7-8AM Saturday October 7. All other runners and walkers must pick their packet up at Spooner. Race day registration will be available at the starting area at Spooner State Park during that time. Please give yourself and event staff plenty of time to get everyone their packets and bibs.
Although the new parking area is complete, unfortunately it will not be open for use this year. So we will have to limit the morning shuttle parking along Hwy. 28. Once I have confirmation on an exact number I will let everyone know. There is no parking allowed at Tunnel Creek Cafe. Parking in front of the Cafe is for customers only. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Race parking along Hwy. 28 will be for the morning shuttle list. Runners planning on taking the post race shuttle will need to park at Spooner State Park and take the shuttle back to their vehicle after they finish. Note that there is a fee to enter the park.

The course starts at Spooner Lake, Nevada State Park located on the east shore of Lake Tahoe.
The first mile of the run follows North Canyon Road (jeep road) into the backcountry. At .8 tenths of a mile, the course veers off to the left and onto the Marlette Lake Trail, a beautiful single track. In the next 3.2 miles, runners climb 1200 feet through conifers and aspen groves passing an old loggers cabin on their way to Marlette saddle, the highest point on the course, at 8200 feet. After cresting the hill, the trail then descends a half mile to Marlette Lake at 7823 feet.
Once at Marlette Lake, all runners make a sharp left turn and continue on a flat jeep road along the west shore of Marlette Lake for 1 mile. At the dam, just before dropping onto the Flume trail, runners will encounter the first of 2 aid stations along the course at mile 5.6. After leaving the Dam Aid Station, the next 4.5 miles of running are flat and narrow (sometimes very narrow) single track of some of the most spectacular views you will ever experience.
Use caution, as this section has very steep drop offs and can be challenging for those who are afraid of heights. Although some of you may think that this section should be flat and fast, it is quite the contrary. The breathtaking views along this 4.5 mile section will literally stop you in your tracks. Every turn seems to reveal a better view to snap on your smartphone. To help keep traffic flowing, we will have a professional photographer out on this section of the course taking event photos of every runner.
After these memorable 4.5 miles come to an end, runners come upon the second and Last Aid Station on the course at the junction of the Flume Trail and Tunnel Creek Road. Put your downhill legs on for the next 3 miles: a 1500 foot descent down Tunnel Creek Road (jeep road). When almost down to lake level, runners will veer off Tunnel Creek Road to the right through a green gate heading north toward the finish line at Tunnel Creek Station.
Please visit www.ascentruns.com for more detailed race information.
Shuttle passes must be purchased in advance. This event is run point to point. There is parking along Hwy. 28 at Tunnel Creek Cafe where the finish is located. Alternative parking is available within Spooner State Park but there is an entry fee to the park. If you plan on using the shuttle to get you to the start at Spooner from Tunnel Creek Cafe or back to Spooner to retrieve your car after finishing, you must purchase a shuttle pass.
