About the event
Join us on a course that started all the craze here in central Pa. The infamous boulder field awaits you!!!! We're "bringing sexy back" to Bald Eagle State Forest with some of the original trails that will speed things up out there. We're bringing back Goat Path, Lightning Ridge, Black Diamond, Crossover, Fleming Way, Chestnut Flats and the Gorge Trail. And of course we'll be keeping the Link, Boulders, Zindel Park, Rote Overlook, the Luge, Gut Check, and the Kammerdiner. We expect the course to be about 24 miles long with about 6,000 feet of vertical gain. Registration opens December 16th at 8pm EST via ultrasignup to the first 500 runners.
As usual, the start/ finish is at the Castanea Township Fire Company picnic grounds. There is plenty of camping space and parking available. The fun begins on Friday night with a pre-race party and bag pick-up. As usual, the race starts at 7am sharp. After finishing, stick around and enjoy the typical Pa Trail Dogs post-race picnic with great food and beverage.
Before Signing Up
Before signing up----Please understand that this event is not for everyone. It is 24 miles through some pretty tough and diverse terrain and will require some rigorous training on everyone's part. Sorry to be blunt about this next part, but last year we had some safety issues where participants disobeyed the rules and put many people, including themselves, in danger. We will have strict cut-off times at various places on the course. Once we finalize the course, we'll announce the cut-offs. The cut-off times will be based on being able to finish in the daylight. There will be no exceptions to these cut-offs. They are in place for the safety of our runners and the compassion we have for our volunteers. If you don't agree with our cut-offs, please refrain from signing up. Any runner disregarding these cut-offs will be banned from future Boulder Beasts and all PA Trail Dog events. Paying a race fee does not entitle one to make their own rules. Our volunteers are the backbone of this event and are not expendable. Sorry for the rant. A few always ruin it for the many.
All in all, we're looking to make this a most memorable experience for everyone signed up. Just like Hyner, Rothrock, and the Wilds 25K, we're just a fun group of trail runners putting on a fun trail event. We're excited to get back to a more runnable course, but make no mistake, legs will be trembling at the finish line!!!. The course map will be published as soon as we get the nod from DCNR next month. Stay tuned.
Registration opens December 16th at 8pm EST. The event is open to the first 500 runners or the September 1st deadline. A wait list will be created in the event that the race fills up.
Local time: 12:25 AM
There are no refunds (unless a waitlist is started), switches, deferments, selling of bibs, or Bandits for this event. If you don't agree with this policy, please refrain from signing up.
