Big Foot Updates
5/26/20 update: The 2020 Big Foot Trail race IS going to happen. The park has approved the race and we are good to go. Please understand that due to the circumstances the race experience will be different than normal to follow state park, the state of Alabama, and CDC guidelines. For the latest updates on our events regarding new policy changes etc please visit: http://www.runninglane.com/runs/covid-19-runninglane-events-update
Here are a list of changes for the Big Foot Trail Run 5k/ 10k:
*Staggered start based on order of registration. (The final details of this will be determined approximately a week before the race) Example of such might be: 25 runners at a time staggered 5-15 minutes apart. Also, family members who register at different times may move to different corrals to run with each other)
*The race will be capped at 300 which means many won't get in. We may be able to let more in at our next race, the Jackalope Trail Run which can be found here: https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=73925
*You cannot register at packet pickup on Friday or on race morning. You must be registered before the Monday June 15th deadline..
*No traditional aid stations. Bring your own calories, we will provide individual bottle water at the aid station. There will be 100% no littering! If you litter, you're out!
*When you cross the finish line you will be handed your finisher medal and you must not congregate at the finish. There will be an additional bottle water at the finish line that a volunteer will hand to you. There will not be food post race as we maintain everyone's health and safety.
*There will not be an awards ceremony or post race band for Big Foot, this may change for the later Wild Thangs Series races. When you finish, please leave the finishing area and avoid congregating in groups of people. The age group and overall award Fleet Feet gift cards will be picked up at Fleet Feet beginning the Monday following the race. They will have a list of AG winners.
*Specific rules/ guidelines on bathrooms, packet pickup, will be announced the week before the race and also reiterated in the participant email that will go out after registration closes.
*If you have already registered and don't feel comfortable racing, you have the option of sending us your times and participating as a virtual runner. We will manually enter your times for you. We will also mail you your shirt and finisher medal at no additional cost to you given the circumstances. Please know that all virtual results will not be eligible for AG awards.
We're super excited to see you guys again and ask for your patience and understanding as we safely return to racing. Though the above details may be frustrating for some, understand this is not a permanent procedure. With each race and with each passing month, more will be known and we will likely be able to return to a more traditional race setting. Be kind, understand we're doing our very best to follow the rules set forth by the park, the state, and the CDC. Let's rock this summer!
