PMTR is celebrating 40 YEARS!
First started in November of 1980, this 46 mile trail race on the beautiful Pine Mountain Trail system of F.D. Roosevelt State Park is the oldest ultra marathon in the state! This GUTS event will test your endurance and your ankles over rocky single-track trails. Since its inception, the course has seen a few different routes and distances. For 2019 you'll see a little bit more of a park with a new start/finish area, which will guarantee no one's GPS will come up short!
For both distances we will start and finish at the Liberty Pool, utilizing the Pool Trail and Delano Trail west-bound toward the Pine Mountain connector to pick up the course near where it used to start. To familiarize yourself with the trails of FDR State Park, be sure to support the Pine Mountain Trail Association and purchase a map here: https://www.pinemountaintrail.org/maps-of-the-trail.html
As in years past, we will take donations for the Humane Society, accepting pet food donations and/or a monetary donation at checkout. And of course, this is a dog-friendly race (so long as your dog is leashed and doesn't provide too much of an assist up hills!)
Our 20-mile course travels some of the same ruggedly beautiful terrain as the 46-miler, with generous time cutoffs and just as much fun! This year enjoy a stress-free 9AM start. Our hope is to have more runners of both distances finishing closer together and that you all stick around to enjoy the post-race festivities!
Course map, aid station details, cutoffs and other relevant race information will be sent to the email you use for UltraSignup, as well as shared to the Facebook event page. Please consider joining the Georgia Ultra and Trailrunning Society on Facebook for the quickest communication!
