RACE APPROVED! - 11/3
Update - 11/3: We have approval for the 2020 Pass Mountain Trail Runs!
We are opening up credit card processing for registrations so when you register, your card will be charged and you'll be added directly to the entrant's list. All current participants and waitlist runners have been emailed and invited to register.
10/21: As mentioned, we have received approval from the Tonto National Forest with limited capacity. This is a good first step towards approval.
New levels of permitting through Maricopa County (where this race is held) are under way and that has caused a delay in receiving confirmation for Pass Mountain. Once we hear back from the Department of Health as well as the Planning and Development office from Maricopa County, we are hopeful the parks & recreation department will be able to approve our permit pretty quickly. Unfortunately, we don't have a date on these approvals but do appreciate your patience as we navigate these new processes.
In the meantime, all credit card charges have been paused during the registration process. This means that you can sign up for your respective distance risk-free. Once we are 100% sure the event will happen, we'll send you an invite to register from Ultrasignup. When you accept the invite, your credit card is charged and you are officially placed on the entrant's list. You are able to decline the invite at that point as well at no cost.
Important Update - 10/8 - 50M Distance Cancelled, 25Km using Different Course
We are still waiting on approval from Maricopa County but have received an approval from Tonto National Forest, albeit with a very limited capacity. This means we will not hold the 50 Mile race this Fall.
The 25Km will likely utilize some different trails and will not go into the Tonto National Forest as a result, meaning they will not climb Pass Mountain.
Please stay tuned as more information comes about. Thank you for your patience!
Cancelled in 2020: Inaugural Pass Mountain 50 Mile!
The Pass Mountain Trail Runs will now include a 50 mile option that will have runners explore the little known but incredibly beautiful Goldfield Mountains, the super fun and windy Hawes Trail system via the Maricopa Trail, and still get to climb its namesake, the Pass Mountain trail, before returning to Usery Mountain Regional Park 50 miles later. Be a part of year one with us and explore some of these new trails!
Important Update - 9/28
We are continuing to work with Maricopa County & Tonto National Forest on permitting approvals for this event. Additional/new guidelines are being reviewed by the county parks and recreation department. An update for us (and then you) is expected around October 7th.
In the meantime, as you sign up for Pass Mountain, you are added to the waitlist. Once we are 100% sure the event will take place, you'll receive an invite to register from Ultrasignup. At that point, when you accept the invite, your credit card will be charged and you'll be officially added to the entrant's list. It's essentially our way of offering a risk free way for you to get your name on the list now rather than waiting and possibly not being able to race if/when our capacity restrictions are provided to us. Your credit card will only be charged when you accept the invitation to register when that time comes.
Thank you again for your patience and continued support!
--------------------------------->This event is NOT sold out.
Due to the uncertainty with COVID-19 we have made registration for this event a waitlist only because we feel it is irresponsible to continue to collect registration fees. We have no plans to cancel or reschedule this event and the event is not sold out as this page suggests. If the race goes on as planned, you will receive an email from Ultrasignup asking you to accept the invitation to register for this race. No money will be collected until you accept this registration. Please continue to check back for updates!
Features winding trails throughout Usery Mountain Regional Park on the edge of the Goldmine Mountain Range. The 50km and 25km runners will run through Usery Mountain Park and then out into the Tonto National Forest, over the Pass Mountain Trail. 10Km and 5km runners will stay on trails within Usery Mountian Park.
In an effort to continually lessen our race footprint, we are expanding our cupless events to the Desert Runner Trail Series. We will have UltrAspire reusable cups available at registration and on race day or feel free to bring your own!
Desert Runner Trail Series
The Pass Mountain Trail Run is the second race in the Aravaipa Running Desert Runner Trail Fall Series.
