The Inaugural Black Diamond Marathon

LIMITED TO FIRST 20 RUNNERS

This will be the first year for The Black Diamond Marathon. It comes 8 years after the start of the Black Diamond 40 Miler + Relay and Double Black Diamond 40 Miler that takes place every Thanksgiving weekend. The BD Marathon will be replacing the DBD 40 Miler on Saturday, November 30, 2019.

Course Description

The Black Diamond Marathon utilizes 19 of it's 26.2 miles from the BD40 course giving runners of varying abilities a chance to run on the same open, country roads that the ultra runners have been enjoying for years with the Black Diamond.

The course will roll some but for the most part but flat, fast, with cool to cold temps.

Total Elevation Gain: 999 feet

Black Diamond Race Weekend Details

Black Diamond 40 Miler + Relay (Day 1)

Day one is always the Black Diamond 40 Miler + 3 or 4 runner Relay (The Reagan Relay). This event has been taking place for 8 years now and is likely the fastest 40 Miler course in the country. It's country roads, water jugs, roaming aid stations, Safari Park created in honor of the original Strolling Jim 40 Miler with aspects of the Vol State 500K mixed in as well. The race is of course discounted for Run It Fast members and veterans of the race.

Black Diamond Marathon 26.2 (Day 2)

For the first time this year Day 2 will feature the inaugural Black Diamond 26.2 Mile Marathon on Saturday, Nov 30, 2019, the day after the Black Diamond 40 Miler. This course is an open road course that utilizes 19 of 26 miles from the BD 40 Miler course the day before and is beautiful, relatively flat, and fast. The race is discounted for RIF members..

The Sequoyah Races at Pinson Mounds (Day 3)

A third day of racing, following the Black Diamond 40+Relay and Black Diamond Marathon, takes place at the Sequoyah Marathon/Half Marathon/5K at Pinson Mounds State Park on December 1, 2019.
