Welcome to the Backroads!

Welcome to the 2020 Booneville Backroads Ultra! The course runs through many of the Bridges of Madison County and the beautiful, rural Iowa countryside. With thousands of feet of elevation gain, seemingly endless hills, and if it rains, some of the gnarliest level B roads EVER, this ultra will challenge runners of all levels. The “backroads” has something for everyone, from the #tuffest10k to the 100 miler. Turn off the beaten path and hit the backroads!

UPDATE TO COVID-19
Because there is a TON of press right now on canceling events, I thought it was my duty to communicate with you directly. The health and safety of you, the runner, and your family are the absolute most important thing for me and everyone involved with the Booneville Backroads races.

As of today (03/17/20), the CDC is requiring cancellation and postponement of events 10+ individuals for the next 30 days and events 50+ until approximately 05/10/20. If timelines remain in place, as directed by the CDC and WHO, and the rate of infection/transmission numbers come down our event will continue on the date and times as scheduled.

At this moment, due to the "quirky" type of race this is, if we are allowed to continue, we may adjust the aid station strategy, but will communicate that as time progresses. With the cancellations and temporary closing of businesses around the globe, this may put a strain on the companies that we partner with as well and things like medals, awards and buckles may be delayed.

This is an ever-changing situation and one that I am taking very seriously for the safety of you, your families and the community as a whole.

I want to be VERY CLEAR though, if the CDC requirements do change, I will explore every option of postponement instead of cancellation. Shifting dates to later in the year, altering starting times, etc. A lot of you have been logging a crazy ¬number of miles and I don't want those to go to waste. Cancellation will be the last resort. This event is very special to me, my family and hundreds of runners and volunteers who are participating this year and have participated in the past.

This is an incredibly trying time for so many. We are all under a lot of strain, stress, and pressure. Having running in our lives is a tremendous blessing and should still be in your routine. Do your best to get outside as much as you can and continue to practice the social distancing that is recommended. We are in this together. Despite all of the craziness, we will come out the other side with some amazing stories of how we as a community stepped up to take care of those around us.

Sending you blessings, prayers and virtual high fives!!!
