Course and Event Description
2021 marks the 15th Anniversary of the 24HR Adventure Trail Run (ATR). The 24-HR ATR is held within the Prince William Forest Park, located just outside historic Triangle, VA and Marine Corps Base, Quantico. Found 35 miles south of Washington D.C., this run offers a great opportunity to visit the Nations’ Capital and explore 15,000+ acres of Virginia’s National Park wilderness. 100% of the proceeds go to benefit the Semper Fi Fund and the Navy SEAL Foundation, in honour of Jonas B. Kelsall.
To date we have raised approximately $29,000.00 for the charities. We rent out Cabin Camp 5 and this doubles as both the Start and Finish area, i.e the base of operations for the run. Lodging, parking, and food is available for all participants. A banquet/pre-race meal is included, along with a tech shirt, finishers awards, and the best aid station spread on the East Coast. The course is in a National Park of rolling hills, 6.25 mile loop (16 loops = 100 miles) with approximately 800+ feet of elevation gain/loss per lap. Each loop will begin at the Start/Finish for the 24-hour ATR. There will be a satellite aid station at approximately the half way point. There will be plenty of roots, rocks, mud, and dirt of the trail, but generally this is a technical single trail adventure trail run.
The Course has been designed and race formulate by Scott and Alex in such a fashion to allow the most experienced of trail runners and the newest trail runners to run side by side. There will be uphill sections; there will be down hill sections; there will be flat sections. Fun, challenging, dynamic, and adventurous. Don’t pass up this opportunity!
8-HR: Night Training Run
Many ultra runners in the area are preparing for a 100M this Summer and night training can be difficult. SO...we will be incorporating a night training run concurrently with this year's 24HR ATR Trail Festival. It will be no frills. no shirt, no awards, no nothing. JUST RUN. What you will get is a great trail running atmosphere, quality night miles, full breakfast in the morning, fully stocked aid stations, incredible volunteers, and the knowledge that 100% of your entry fee will go to support the Semper Fi Fund and Jonas B. Kelsall Memorial Fund.
