Description

Welcome to the Mountaineer Rumble Half Marathon Race. This event will take you through the rich history of Kings Mountain State Park and the battlefields of Kings Mountain National Military Park.

The route runs through the area of an important American victory during the Revolutionary War. The battle was the first victory after the British invasion of Charleston in 1780. Thomas Jefferson called it "the turn of the tide of success." Can this be a place to turn the tide of success in your running? This will be a great event and route for new trail runners wanting to experience trail running and a great challenge for the experienced trail runner wanting to push the limits of their fitness.

During the event you’ll run a half marathon route that will highlight the National Recreation Trail (Blue Blaze) in Kings Mountain State Park and Kings Mountain National Military Park. The route is a 6.55 mile out and back course with an aid station at mile 4, mile 6.55 and mile 9.

Runners will have beautiful views of creeks and rolling hills, with a spectacular view on Brown Mountain. Most of the route is run along a few different creeks with most of the elevation gain being at Brown Mountain.

Total course elevation gain is 1,800 +/- feet over 13.1 miles.

All runners that complete the half marathon distance will receive a custom finisher’s medal.

Top Three Male and Top Three Female finishers will receive an award.

New for 2023 will be a 5K trail race that will give great views of Lake Crawford and use a few different trails to complete the 5K. The 5K will start ten minutes after the half marathon to ease congestion on the trails. The new 5K route will be a great option for all skill levels from beginners to experienced runners.

Race start time is 9:00 AM for the Half Marathon and 9:10 AM for the 5K.
