This Event Took Place Sat. Aug 2, 2003

Get your vert on!

Come join the festivities on June 8th, 2024 and run/walk/bike up the hill, gaining a mile of vert!

Run in the footsteps of some big name racers such as: Stephanie Howe, Hal Koerner, Erik Skaggs, Camelia Mayfield (current course record holder in 2:07:00), Timothy Olsen, Max King (current course record holder in 1:41:50), Karl Meltzer, Ian Torrence, Jenn Shelton, Cole Watson, and many more.

Seeing the elites blaze by is fun, but we want to emphasize that this event is for EVERYONE. Challenge yourself and hike to the top! The cutoff times are pretty liberal, so hikers can make the trek.

Race fees include a race shirt (unless you sign up late). Lunch is optional and is an add on. Please arrange your own ride down (or run back down).

We are encouraging youth athletes to join in and registration is half off for youth under 18.

Sign up now!

This is the main fundraiser for AWTA (Ashland Woodland & Trails Association) https://www.ashlandtrails.org/, a volunteer based community non-profit organization that is committed to help preserve, maintain, and provide public access to the woodland and trails in the local area.

We ask that you sign up as soon as possible so that we can do a better job organizing this race for YOU. We have to order shirts a month or so in advance and guessing the sizes is always tricky. If you want your T-shirt size guaranteed, sign up by May 1st (especially Youth sizes). In addition, race fees go up May 8th.

If we have to cancel the race for any reason, you'll be able to roll your registration over to next year. We will not offer refunds as we have to cover costs for insurance, shirts, shuttles, permits, etc. This is a community building event with funds going towards a great cause.

I'll be using the IG page (https://www.instagram.com/mta_hill_climb) to keep you updated and raise the stoke. The FB page (https://www.facebook.com/mtashlandhillclimbrun) is mainly for folks to connect and have discussions for rides, training runs, etc.

Course info

The course starts in Lithia Park, just outside of Skout Taphouse. From there you will run/hike approximately 13 1/2 miles, climbing a mile in vert to the summit of Mt. Ashland. Along the way you will pass 4 aid stations that will be stocked with the typical trail run goodies and fluids. The first section will be paved, then you'll quickly get into dirt fire roads and steeper inclines. After 12+ miles, you'll pass the final aid station at the Mt Ashland Ski Lodge. From here you'll take a single-track trail across the mountain and up to the summit to get a good look at the giant soccer ball (radome). This last mile is a steep single track that might have snow.

After the finish, make your trek down the trail back down to the lodge (staying out of the way of the racers) and pick up your drop bag, grab some food, a beer (thanks Common Block!), and cheer on racers as they come through. Check out the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45897445

New this year - Mtn Bikes & Hiker Option!

This year we'll be adding mountain bikes to the mix! The mountain bikers will be taking the same route up to 4 corners, then taking a different route all the way to the top. 20.7 miles. Check out the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45897440

We're also adding a hiker option with hikers starting at 6:30 am. This way, the hikers can catch the action of the lead pack and get to the party at the lodge an hour earlier.

Event's current local time: 4:25 PM PT
