How we doing you crazy bunch of runners! If you're reading this you either know who we are at Vagabond Endurance, or have found your way to a down home experience of mud, trails, and good ole fashion running fun. While we don't take ourselves very seriously, we do take your experience on the trails to heart and want to provide the best day possible for you.
Local time: 3:58 PM
The 4 mile course, while it has its challenges, will be a great way for new runners to cut their teeth and get their first finish line on the trails. If you have experience with a little bit of distance and want a taste of glory on your way to an ultra, step up to the half marathon. These trails will not give you the finish line without working for it, but they will not be the treacherous downfall you may find at other parks. With lots of flat, soft pack, double wide trails you'll have plenty of room to move around and get comfortable out there in the woods.
If you are already an ultra runner, searching for a fun race to get some training in, we challenge you to come out and set a PR! We're not trying to say this course is going to be easy for you, but if you're pounding back 30+ mile finish lines, you should be able to get out here and crush it.
The course will be marked well with ribbon as well as signage to make sure you are following the right path. Images of the course will be shared on our social media platforms (Instagram/Facebook) as we get closer to the race. If you're familiar with the park then you know we have plenty of directions to send you in on the trails to have some fun, and we plan to do so. We highly recommend first time trail runners take a day to get out onto the trails at the park to get a feel for what it will be like to run over roots, rocks, and whatever else nature might lay down in front of you.
Cut-off times will be very generous with this race. We will begin the Half at 8:30am with a cut off time of 1:30pm. That gives you a 20 minute per mile pace which is not hard to keep so long as you keep moving. For the 4 mile runners, your race will start at 9am and will have the same cutoff time. That gives you over an hour per mile to take a leisurely stroll, a nap, a picnic, and maybe even get a little fishing in if you want to.
This is a race in which we want everyone to finish. We do not set this event up to humble you, but to give you an inspirational start to the running season as Spring starts to roll in along with warmer weather. So sign up and come run with us!
All participants of the 4 mile and half registered before Feb. 12th are guaranteed to receive a race shirt.
All participants registered before March 1st are guaranteed to receive a medal for crossing the finishing line.
For the 13.1 and 4 mile Trail run, we will have awards for the top 3 male and female participants.
We'll have photos of the medal and t-shirt coming early January, so check out our Instagram and Facebook feed for all that info.
