ABOUT THE RACE

The inaugural BC Backyard Ultra, hosted by Lewiston Ultra Events is an approved SILVER TICKET event in support of the Canadian Championship and Big's Backyard Ultra World Championship.

The BC Backyard Ultra will host 150 racers & there is no waitlist.

The winner of the BC Backyard Ultra will receive an invitation to participate in the Canadian Championship and opportunity to compete in the World Championship.

The BC Backyard Ultra follows the Backyard format.

Every hour on the hour, runners must complete 6706 meters (4.167 miles/6.7056 kms).

Three minutes before the top of the hour, three whistles will blow. Get ready.

Two minutes before the top of the hour, two whistles will blow. It's time.

One minute before the top of the hour, one whistle will blow. If you aren't in the starting chute yet, best better make your way.

When the bell rings at the start of the hour, all runners must be present, ready to go and in the starting chute. If you are not in the starting chute and do not start when the bell rings, you are disqualified.

When one runner remains, they will complete one more loop, a last loop, to be named the BC Backyard Ultra Winner and receive SILVER TICKET.

There is only one winner; all other participants will DNF (did not finish).

Except for restrooms, racers are not permitted to leave the course until each loop is completed.

No non-competitors on the course (including eliminated runners).

Aid, pacers, crew, etc are not permitted on course (event aid will be available).

No artificial aids (including poles).

Slower runners must allow passes.

THE INSPIRATION

BC Backyard Ultra, hosted by Lewiston Ultra Events is inspired by community and time spent with mastermind, Lazarus Lake.

The Backyard format is inclusive and allows participants the chance to run with community, set a personal record, lean in to support & challenge each other, experience an ultra that brings you back to home base over & over again and encourages you to dig deep, push yourself and of course, chase the SILVER TICKET.

BC Backyard Ultra gives back to Love For Lewiston, Shuswap Trail Alliance, charity of choice (to be decided annually by registered participants) & other community/volunteer organizations and shareholders.

REGISTRATION

BC Backyard Ultra is $145 CDN (+GST & UltraSignup fee).

Participants must be 19 years of age or older on race day.

*AMEX (AMERICAN EXPRESS & DISCOVERY) cards are not accepted methods of payment

Lewiston Ultra Events does not offer refunds and there is no waitlist.

Registration is transferable until 8am on April 11, 2022 for a $20 administration fee. There are no transfers after 8am on April 11, 2022 – no exceptions. Transfer requests can be sent to kara@thelewistonultra.com

Registration will close April 1 @ 8am or when the race fills; whichever comes first.

Last Runner Standing will receive the SILVER COIN and invitation to participate in the Canadian Championship with opportunity to compete in the World Championship.

All participants will complete an online waiver in the registration process. All participants will acknowledge, accept & understand Lewiston Ultra Events will comply with current Provincial COVID-19 guidelines/restrictions and requests of the Public Health Authority.

Lewiston Ultra Events has print and social media rights to use all photographs, videos, etc of participants, volunteers, crews, community, etc during the course of events without compensation to the person/person(s).

THE COURSE

The BC Backyard Ultra is hosted within the gorgeous City of Salmon Arm, British Columbia on a lush trail system that is kind (non technical, wide(r) with minimal elevation) and promises a start/finish area that will not disappoint.
