WE WILL REVERSE DIRECTIONS EVER 6 HOURS
Again this year runners will reverse directions every 6 hours. At the end of each 6 hour segment we will place a cone on the course at the timing mat. Runners will circle the cone and head back the way they came. This will make things more interesting. This also means you will not be able to stop at the aid station on the laps changing from clockwise to counterclockwise. Runners will be turned around before reaching the aid station. When changing from counterclockwise to clockwise, runners will be turned around before reaching the bathrooms. You will need to plan ahead!
About the event
Have you ever wondered just how far you could run in 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours or maybe over 2 days, (48 hours) or even 3 days (72 Hours) on a smooth, level surface? Well, here is your chance. The Endless Mile will be held at Veteran's Park in Alabaster, Alabama in Mid-October. The park is 26 miles south of downtown Birmingham, and 16 miles south of I-459. The address of the park is 7305 Highway 119, Alabaster, AL 35007. The course is USATF Certified and Sanctioned. It is a fraction over a mile in length, exactly 1.00203 miles. Runners will circle the paved and lighted path as many times as they can in the allotted time. The event will be electronically chip timed, instantly recording and displaying the exact distance covered. Run the race solo or start a relay team. Either way, Endless Mile will be an experience you will never forget. Solo runners that reach 100 miles will receive a 100 mile buckle.
Race Shirt Cutoff - October 12th
To be assured of receiving a race shirt, you MUST REGISTER BEFORE MONDAY OCTOBER 13TH.
The order for the shirts will be turned on October 10th. Please do not wait until the last minute to register. Register by the 1st and avoid the Late Registration Price Increase.
The Course
The course is USATF Certified at exactly a 1.00203 mile loop through the park. You can't get much closer to a mile than that. The hiking paths are asphalt, very flat and smooth and winds along through wooded areas and past several lakes. Total elevation gain for each loop is about 12 to 15 ft. The 90 acre park also contains picnic areas, picnic shelters, two playgrounds, real restrooms with running water, soccer fields and a youth baseball complex. Some trails are shaded and will provide very pleasant running. Click on the link to the Endless Mile website (above) to find a Google Maps link to Veteran's Park in Alabaster. On the website you will also find more pictures of the park and short video lap around the course.
Endless Mile Relay - Register at Endless Mile Website
You don't want to run 24 Hours, or 48 Hours, then start or join a relay team. The 24 Hour Relay may contain up to 12 team members. The 48 Hour Relay Teams can have as many as 16 members. Six performance blend shirts will go to 24 hour teams and 48 hour relay teams receive 8 shirts. Finisher medals go to all team members whose team finished their event. (To be considered a finisher in the relay, one team member must be on the course for the full duration of the even.) We will have an award for the team that covers the most miles in the 24 hour and the 48 hour. Each team member will be allowed to run as much or as little as they desire. Set up your own support tent, bring your cheering section and go for the win. Details on the Endless Mile Website
Setup Your Team - First, name your team, select the race you want your team to run and sign up at Endless Mile Website. It is best to get the team members together first and share the cost. Running the relay will get very reasonable with a large team and it will be an incredible experience for all.
