Close out 2022 in Style on Pioneer Trail!

Cap of your 2022 Trail Running season with a great race on the scenic Pioneer Trail system in Jennings State Forest just outside of Middleburg FL. We'll offer 3 distances this year with 10k, 25k and 50k race distances. We'll be making use of pieces of Dunn's Farm, Cross Cut and Pioneer Trails and bringing you a great mixed bag of terrrain from sandy palmetto/pine forest to buffed trails through the woods with plenty of elevation gained and lost.

Course Descriptions

10k(ish) - Runners will start at 9 am in the Dunn's Farm Trailhead down the Dunn's Farm (pink blazes) trail until the take a left turn on Cross Cut Trail (green blazes) and follow this out until they encounter the first aid station at Powell Ford Road. Runners will cross the road and join Section 4 of Pioneer Trail (blue blazes) for approximately 2.6 miles until they cross the bridge to join the Dunn's Farm (pink blazes) trail at the Crossroads through the Palmetto Forest to the finish.

25k - Runners will start in the Dunn's Farm Trailhead down the Dunn's Farm (pink blazes) trail until the take a left turn on Cross Cut Trail (green blazes) and follow this out until they take a left turn to join Section 5 of Pioneer Trail (blue blazes) they will follow this trail to the turn back point and follow the blue trail back, then check in at Aid Station 1. From there, they will cross Powell Ford Rd. and join Section 4 of Pioneer Trail (blue blazes) and follow the trail, taking the low side when presented with a high side/low side trail option until the cross the bridge to the Crossroads. From here, they will take a hard left to join the Dunn's Farm/Pioneer Shared trail (pink & blue blazes) and follow this until the next junction at Tiny Dancer bridge. From here, runners will turn left and join Section 3 of Pioneer Trail and follow the trail all the way to the next Aid Station at Ellis Ford Road and check in, then turn back and retrace their steps until the get back to the junction at Tiny Dancer Bridge. This time, runners will take a left and join Dunn's Farm Trail (pink blazes) for a steep climb until the trail turns right (watch for the sign and the pink blazes) until you come to the Crossroads, then take a hard left and follow Dunn's Farm (pink blazes) across Powell Ford Road back through the Palmetto Forest to the finish line.

50k - Runner's will start in the Dunn's Farm Trailhead down the Dunn's Farm (pink blazes) trail until the take a left turn on Cross Cut Trail (green blazes) and follow this out until they take a left turn to join Section 5 of Pioneer Trail (blue blazes) they will follow this trail to the turn back point and follow the blue trail back, then check in at Aid Station 1. From there, they will cross Powell Ford Rd. and join Section 4 of Pioneer Trail (blue blazes) and follow the trail, taking the low side when presented with a high side/low side trail option until the cross the bridge to the Crossroads. From here, they will take a hard left to join the Dunn's Farm/Pioneer Shared trail (pink & blue blazes) and follow this until the next junction at Tiny Dancer bridge. From here, runners will turn left and join Section 3 of Pioneer Trail and follow the trail all the way to the next Aid Station at Ellis Ford Road and check in, then continue on Section 2 of Pioneer Trail crossing over Knight's Landing Road past Indian Ford and up the road to Aid Station 3 at Padgett Cemetery. We'll have water, Tailwind and snacks as well as a portapotty for runners at this Aid Station. Runners will then head back the way they came. When the come back to Tiny Dancer Bridge, they will take a right joining the Dunn's Farm/Pioneer Shared (pink/blue) trail to the Crossroads, then take a right across the bridge to Section 4 (blue) taking the low side option when given a choice until they come to Powell Ford Rd and the Aid Station. From here, they will pick up Cross Cut (green) back to it's junction with Dunn's Farm (pink) in the Palmetto Forest to the finish.

COVID-19 Precautions

Sadly COVID-19 is still a concern and we ask that the following precautions be observed.

-If you are sick, please do not show up to run. We'll happily offer refunds or deferrals if you're feeling ill.
-Runners will fill their own bottles, cups or hydration bladders and volunteers will sanitize the spigots of the coolers.

Cup-Free Race

In order to keep the Jennings State Forest clean, this will be a cup-free race. Runners will need a hand bottle or hydration vest/pack with collapsible bottles or bladder or can take a collapsible cup provided by our sponsor Tailwind Nutrition with them on the course.

Water and Tailwind will be provided at aid stations along with some snacks for the 50k runners at Aid Station 3 at Padgett Cemetery just past Indian Ford on Hattie Nolan Road.

What about the Swag?

Runners who registered before the medal cutoff will receive a finishers medal and a custom Camp Mug or Pint Glass. Runners who registered after the cut off will receive their choice of a custom Camp Mug or Pint Glass. Top Men's and Women's Finishers in the 50k receive shoes from Altra Running and Top Men's and Women's Finishers in the 25k will receive recovery footwear from Oofo's. 10k Top Men's and Women's Finishers will receive a $50 gift card from REI and top Men's and Women's finishers at each distance will receive a custom award plaque.

Drop Bags - 50k

50k runners can drop a single gallon sized ziplock bag that they will have access to at the turn around at Indian Ford aid station. Please write your name and bib number on your bag. Bags will be thrown away post-race so please only include items you do not need to have returned.
