Course
A little bit of evertything from groomed gravel double track, to singletrack with roots, rocks, and maybe even a tree limb or two. The course does cross a paved road twice, and pops out of the trail briefly at the main visitors center on the way back to the finish line. The course is mostly rolling, however there are two main hills with signifigant elevation gains and losses. The course is very technical in places. Sharp jagged rocks and small stumps, at times, become the trail, making it very difficult (and dangerous) to maintain a fast pace. The track does have some built in, man made steps, that you will decend after the first main hill. At the top, on a clear day, it is possible to see downtown Charlotte.
