Late Registration

Online registration for the Virtual Run has been extended until 11:59 pm May 15th. However, registration for local runners has now closed so we can prepare for Saturday's awesome event. If you would still like to register for the local run, we will be accepting in-person registrations on Friday evening (May 13) from 5:00-7:30 pm downstairs at the Black Oak Casino Hotel. We will also accept registrations on Saturday at the race site from 7:00-8:00 am. Registration on Saturday must close at 8 am so we can prepare our timing system for the start of the race. Registration Friday evening is highly encouraged. We will do our best to provide your requested shirt size, but we cannot make any guarantees.

Cost: 2-Mile and 10K – $45, Kids Run 1K – $20

About the event

Luc's Run presented by Black Oak Casino Resort is held annually each spring in historic Tuolumne, CA. In addition to the local race, the option for a virtual run is offered where hundreds of enthusiasts from around the world walk and run in support of Luc's legacy. All proceeds go to the Major Lucas Gruenther Legacy Foundation, an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The purpose of the foundation is to inspire others to Live Like Luc and bestow scholarships to Americans for the advancement of educational goals and self development, thereby strengthening and benefiting the community at large through individual enhancement. Luc’s Run is the foundation’s primary annual fundraiser.

About Luc

Major Lucas Gruenther was an incredible human being. He was a devoted husband, outstanding F-16 fighter pilot, community role model, and a true humanitarian. He lived his life to the fullest and never took a single day for granted. Luc is remembered for the way he treated people with wisdom and kindness, and was a genuine human being who made a tremendous positive impact everywhere he went.

On January 28, 2013, Luc was on a training mission over the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Italy. During the sortie, Luc was forced to eject from his F-16 and did not survive the ejection. Luc is survived by his wife Cassy Gruenther and his daughter Serene Gruenther, who was born 10 days after Luc’s passing.

Course

The local race begins at Tuolumne Veteran's Memorial Hall in beautiful Tuolumne, CA. There is a 1K Kid’s Race for those 12 and under, a 2-mile course, and a 10K course. The 2-mile and 10K course wind through the streets of Tuolumne, a historic logging town that was an important part of California’s modern development. Both courses can be described as “rolling” with a few moderately steep, but short hills. Each course is guaranteed to challenge you! The 2-mile course is paved and the 10K course is mostly paved with some dirt roads. There are no time limits on the course. Walkers and runners are equally welcome at this event!

Be sure to register by April 22nd to avoid a price increase and guarantee your shirt size.

Virtual Run

For those wanting to honor Luc and support the Major Lucas Gruenther Legacy Foundation, we are also offering a Virtual Run option where you can run either 2 miles or a 10K at a location of your choosing. All virtual runners will receive a 2016 Race Shirt and an official Finisher’s Medal! These items will be mailed to you. In locations where there are multiple runners, the shirts and medals will be boxed together to reduce our costs.

We need volunteers! An event of this magnitude would not be possible without the gracious support of our volunteers.
