ARE YOU READY TO ROTHROCK?

Across two race distances, the Rothrock Trail Challenge covers some of the choicest singletrack trails in Central Pennsylvania while doling out extra helpings of rocks along the way. Register today and prepare to step up to the challenge of this one-of-a-kind trail-running event, which benefits the nonprofit Tussey Mountain Ski Patrol.

SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2025

On either Rothrock Trail Challenge course, you’ll have ample opportunities to test your lung capacity on steep uphill slogs and your quads on pounding descents. As you traverse some of the most iconic trails in Rothrock State Forest, you’ll ramble beneath stands of pine, maple, and birch; alongside streams; through ferns and mountain laurel; and across rustic bridges. Oh, and there will be some rocks, too.

WELCOME TO HAPPY VALLEY

The Rothrock Trail Challenge begins and ends at the Tussey Mountain Pavilion in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. It’s near the town of State College and Penn State’s University Park campus and on the doorstep of Rothrock State Forest, with its more than 95,000 acres of adventure.

OUR COMMUNITY

If you count yourself among the KOM- and QOM-chasers, the Rothrock Trail Challenge offers stiff competition at the front of the field. But this event -- with a cutoff time of seven and a half hours -- isn’t for the speedsters alone. Bucket-listers, middle-of-the-packers, back-of-the-packers, power hikers, and slow-and-steadyers; you’ll all have a place at the starting line and in our welcoming Central PA trail community.
