A beautiful first race of the Southeastern Trail Series
The 3 mile race is one loop around Tranquility Lake, the 6 is two laps.Google Maps from Hwy 119 at I-65 to Start at Redbud
The Tranquility Lake Trail Race is the first race of the Southeastern Trail Series. The race starts at the Redbud Pavilion at Oak Mountain State Park and is located at the end of Terrace Drive. The race will start at 8:00 AM. This is the perfect first trail race for the beginner runner or the veteran road races. The course is a 3 mile loop with only 450 feet of elevation gain per lap. The 6 mile race is two laps of the 3 mile course.
There is a $5 per person fee to enter the park. They do not accept credit cards!
The Course
Runners will start in front of the Redbud Pavilion and run a short 0.4 mile loop around the Tranquility Rd, circling the BMX Track. This will give runners a chance so spread out before entering the single track trails they will be on for the next 2 miles. Runners will come out of the woods at the Meeting center at the cabins and cross the "Cabin Rd." Immediately after crossing the paved road, they will turn right and climb the hill just before the first cabin. Follow the trail over a small hill back almost to the BMX Track where you will go straight back to Redbud Pavilion. This is the finish for 3 milers. We will have an aid station at Redbud for 6 mile runners. After the aid station, head straight into the woods (do not make another loop around Tranquility Rd) for a second lap of the course.

Trail races take place regardless of weather. In the event of severe weather with lightning in the immediate area or extremely high winds, we may delay the start untiled the severe weather moves away. This race, as with most Southeastern Trail Runs races, take place at Oak Mountain State Park. Should conditions warrant, the park may require us to postpone or cancel the race. This has never happened, except during the COVID epidemic when we moved two races forward two months. Should that happen, we will move all runners to the new date. Any runner that cannot run that day may roll the entry over to the following year.
