Event Overview
A celebration of trail running in one of Colorado’s most stunning locations, Snow Mountain Ranch features race options for runners of every level. This event offers a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and 50K, all set against the backdrop of Snow Mountain Ranch’s breathtaking scenery.
Each course surrounds runners with rolling hills, golden aspen groves, and expansive mountain views, making Snow Mountain Ranch one of the most beautiful trail experiences of the year. For those ready to test their limits, our popular "Moosehead Challenge" and "Baby Moose Challenge" invite you to complete multiple events in a single day, adding a unique element of endurance and adventure to your trail experience.
Starting and finishing near the heart of the YMCA grounds, the Snow Mountain Ranch courses are designed to showcase the natural beauty of Granby, with varied elevations and terrain that promise both challenge and reward. And for those tackling the 50K, a pacer is allowed for the final loop, ensuring you have the support needed to reach your goal.

Course Descriptions
Nestled in the heart of the Rockies, the Snow Mountain Ranch Trail Running Festival offers a range of scenic, high-altitude courses that capture the rugged beauty of Granby, Colorado. With dirt trails winding through stunning landscapes and elevation gains that test even the most seasoned trail runners, each course provides its own unique challenge. From the beginner-friendly 5K to the demanding 50K, runners of all levels can experience the vibrant fall colors, rolling hills, and panoramic mountain views that make Snow Mountain Ranch one of the most picturesque race locations.
50 KM Course
The 50K course at Snow Mountain Ranch is a challenging, high-altitude adventure designed for seasoned trail runners. Covering 31.4 miles on 100% dirt terrain, this out-and-back course with a lollipop section features three loops, each gaining 1,412 feet for a total elevation gain of 4,236 feet. The course reaches a max elevation of 9,844 feet, with a significant climb from Mile 3 to Mile 6 on each loop. Runners must begin their third loop by the 6-hour mark (12:30 PM) to complete within the 8.5-hour time limit. Three aid stations per loop provide essential support, and a drop bag checkpoint ensures you have everything you need to push through this rigorous journey.
33 KM Course
The 33K course at Snow Mountain Ranch offers a tough yet rewarding trail experience with two loops covering a total of 20.2 miles. This out-and-back route with a lollipop section is entirely on dirt and climbs to a peak elevation of 9,844 feet. With 2,824 feet of total elevation gain (1,412 feet per loop), the course includes a challenging hill climb between Mile 3 and Mile 6 on each loop. Runners are supported by three aid stations per loop, making this 8-hour course a thrilling option for those looking to conquer a high-altitude trail.
Half-Marathon Course
The Half-Marathon course at Snow Mountain Ranch takes runners through a beautiful single loop that covers 12.8 miles on all-dirt terrain. This out-and-back course with two lollipop sections reaches a max elevation of 8,640 feet and includes a challenging climb from Mile 3 to Mile 6, adding up to a total elevation gain of 1,707 feet. Supported by four aid stations along the route, this course offers a balanced mix of difficulty and scenic views, making it an ideal option for trail runners looking for a high-altitude, challenging half-marathon experience.
10 KM Course
The 10K course at Snow Mountain Ranch is a scenic, single-loop route covering 6.1 miles on 100% dirt trails. With an elevation gain of 653 feet, the course features two significant climbs—between Mile 1 and Mile 2 and again from Mile 3 to Mile 4—reaching a max elevation of 9,844 feet. Runners have access to two aid stations along the way, making this out-and-back route with two lollipop sections both challenging and accessible within the 5-hour time limit.
5 KM Course
The 5K course at Snow Mountain Ranch provides an inviting yet rewarding trail experience over 3.3 miles of dirt paths. With a gentle elevation gain of 405 feet and a max elevation of 8,639 feet, this out-and-back course offers a manageable challenge, supported by a single aid station. Perfect for beginners and seasoned runners alike, the 5K is an excellent way to enjoy the scenic beauty of Snow Mountain Ranch on a shorter trail run.
