WINTER TRAIL RUNNING EXPERIENCE

Join us as the 2024 Way Over Yonder Trail Run Series continues with a wonderful winter trail run experience. We've been running and riding in Ringwood over 20 years, and every time we venture into this forest we have an amazing time. Sure you will too!

As a hallmark of our events, course will be well marked with Arrow signs and survey tape.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Get ready to run on a course with great views that's mostly singletrack in the woods. The Half will do two of the extended 10K loop which has 760 ft elevation gain. The10K loop with 700 ft elevation gain and features rolling hills. The 5K is accesible to runners of all ages and abilities and also features some great views. The 3.0 mile course has just under 400 feet elevation gain. There will be a cupless aid station (Mile 5.1 Half, Mile 4.5 10K & Mile 1.3 5K), so make sure to bring a cup or bottle. There will also be a hydration/nutrition staging area at the start/finish for Half Marathon runners to use before heading out for second lap.

ON COURSE GPS

All registered runners will receive full access to use RideWithGPS during the event. The free APP can be set to provide audio cues to alert you before each turn. While we painstakingly mark the course with arrows and course tape, it is possible for something to be blown down or missed as your running full out. Use the App on your phone to check where you are on the course so you can easily make your way back on course in case you've missed a turn.

REQUIRED GEAR

We want to make sure you have an incredible experience at our trail run. Portions of the course are technical and expect that your pace to adjust accordingly. Please make sure to bring the following:

- Charged Cell Phone
- RideWIthGPS App pre-loaded (or your choice of App using GPX file)
- Hydration Pack or Water Bottle
- Minimum 200 calories (gels, chews, energy bar, etc)
- Whistle
- Micro Spikes or Yaxtrax highly recommended to ensure traction if there's snow

WEATHER & WHAT TO WEAR

Weather in the Ramapo Mountains in early December can range from 25-45 degrees. So, the key is wearing layers so you're prepared for any condition. We will have long sleeve technical T shirts for sale at the event which works as a great base layer. (Pre-Order to ensure we have your size). Good idea to have running tights. Trail Running Shoes or Hiking Boots are a great idea. We highly recommend getting a set of Microspikes / Yaktrax to ensure you'll have good traction.

PARKING

There's plenty of parking at Shepard Lake and it's a very short walk to the start/finish.

VOLUNTEERS

t's no secret that community events like FROSTY WOODS Trail Run simply don't happen without the help of volunteers. All volunteers will get race swag & join us for the post race celebration. We could use some help with packet pickup, sweeping the course and breaking down all the race gear. Sign up by clicking the volunteer button or email us at info@rsgadventures.com.
