Race #1 of the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series
Please remember that all RunningLane Events trail races are "cupless races." You must have a hand held bottle, pack or reusable cup as there won't be any paper cups at the aid stations to cut down on waste. If you don't have a reusable cup, there is the option to buy a RunningLane reusable cup at checkout for $5.
Welcome to the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series! We are excited to introduce a new winter trail series to the beautiful mountains around Huntsville, AL. This series is designed for both new and experienced trail runners alike. There are 3 races total in the series with both short and long race distances. Starting in late December and finishing in January, these 3 races are designed to be competitive, help runners increase their race distances through the winter months, and most of all be a ton of fun. If you are training for HTC's Mountain Mist 50K, this is a great winter buildup to the grand daddy of them all, MOUNTAIN MIST! These courses have several bluff views with beautiful mountain scenery as well as creek crossings, water falls and more.
Several aid stations will be provided on the course with everything from water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, m&m's, granola bars and more.

Calling all volunteers! We always need fantastic volunteers and we have a volunteer program to help save you some dough. Volunteers who work a 5 hour shift will receive free entry into a future RunningLane Event 1/2 Marathon distance and shorter. Volunteers who work (2) 5 hour shifts or (1) 8+ hour shift will receive free entry into a future RL Event 50 Miler and down OR (2) races 1/2 marathon and down. Registration
The race is capped at 400 runners.
All runners who sign up for the Frozen Yeti 5 Mile & 10 Mile will receive a t-shirt and finisher award. **The t-shirt is the same shirt for the entire series**
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup will be on Friday, December 20th, 2024 at our new RunningLane store from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. Participants are welcomed to pick up packets for their friends. RunningLane is located at 2407 Memorial Parkway SW Suite 1, Huntsville, AL 35801
Shirts, Awards, Weather & Cutoffs
The race shirt will be a short sleeve tri-blend shirt.
Age groups will be: 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ for ALL races.
In the event of severe weather we will delay the start as necessary to avoid lightening. If severe weather threatens the entire day and does not appear to let up, we may be forced to cancel.
Average Temperatures throughout the winter for Huntsville: Low 25F-35F, High: 45F-55F
There will be very loose cutoffs. Our goal is to get more and more people into this awesome sport that is trail running, no matter what your experience level is. However, we would suggest that if you are not able to maintain 15 minute miles that you please consider doing the Short Series vs the Long Series. There will be a 17 minute/ mile cutoff for Long Series participants.
There are no refunds, deferrals, credits or friend / family transfers on entries. We do not mail shirts or medals to participants unable to make the event as left over shirts are donated.
