ABOUT THE RACE
Moose Mountain Trail Races is the oldest sanctioned trail race event in Alberta & will celebrate 33 years of bringing community together on August 23, 2025. Join us for a breathtaking 16KM, 29KM, 42KM & 50KM solo mountain trail race on one of the original/first trail system in the Kananaskis Country park system, Alberta.
West Bragg Creek recreational day use area (start/finish) ascends from rolling prairie, through the foothills and is home to over 150km of gorgeous community built trails. This spectacular terrain will journey runners through an adventure of forested single & double track with an 8000 foot backdrop of the stunning Moose Mountain, the highest peak in this mountain range.
Lewiston Ultra Events is beyond honored to continue the traditions of Moose Mountain Trail Races (established in 1992).
THE INSPIRATION
Moose Mountain Trail Races, hosted by Lewiston Ultra Events is inspired by community. This grassroots trail event has been a part of run community for over three decades and is the oldest trail event in Alberta and one of the oldest in Western Canada. We are beyond honoured to share the history of Moose Mountain Trail Races and continue to host in an extraordinary community that rises up to cheer y'all through a gorgeous trail system and finish line.
Moose Mountain Trail Races gives back to Bragg Creek Trail Association, Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society, Search & Rescue, Scouts Canada & other community/volunteer organizations and shareholders.
REGISTRATION
All distances will be $130 CDN (+GST & UltraSignup fee).
Participants must be 18 years of age or older on race day.
*AMEX (AMERICAN EXPRESS & DISCOVERY) cards are not accepted methods of payment.
Lewiston Ultra Events does not offer refunds and there is no waitlist.
Registration is transferable until 8am on August 11, 2025 for a $20 administration fee. There are no transfers after 8am on August 11, 2025 – no exceptions. Please understand as there are liability issues, impacts with medical volunteer support and race integrity. Transfer requests can be sent to kara@thelewistonultra.com.
Registration will close August 11, 2025 @ 8am or when the race fills; whichever comes first.
THE COURSE
Moose Mountain Trail Races hosts four (4) distances: 16KM, 29KM, 42KM & 50KM
16KM (11AM START)
Elevation gain: 460 meters
Elevation loss: 460 meters
Estimated completion time: 1 hrs – 2.5 hrs
Trail Type: 75% Single Track with some Double Track
Aid Station @ 8KM
FINISH LINE CUT OFF: Runners must cross the finish line by 3:30pm to receive official finish time & finishers medal
29KM (8:30AM START)
Elevation gain: 1220 meters
Elevation loss: 1220 meters
Estimated completion time: 2.5 hrs – 4.5 hrs
Trail Type: 50% Single Track & 50% Double Track
Aid Available @ 9KM & 20KM
CUT OFF – Runners must pass thru the T-Junction Aid [20KM] by 1pm. Runners after the 1pm cut off will be assisted off the mtn & brought to the finish line.
42KM (8:30AM START)
Elevation gain: 1620 meters
Elevation loss: 1620 meters
Estimated completion time: 3.5 hrs – 6 hrs
Trail Type: 50% Single Track & 50% Double Track
Aid Available @ 9KM, 20KM, 27KM & 33KM
CUT OFF 1 – Runners must pass thru the T-Junction Aid [20KM] by 1pm. Runners after the 1pm cut off will be assisted off the mtn & brought to the finish line.
CUT OFF 2 - Runners must arrive at the aid station at Moose Connector [27KM] by 2pm or they will be redirected to the finish line & receive placement in the 29KM distance
50KM (8:30AM START)
Elevation gain: 2351meters
Elevation loss: 2351meters
Estimated completion time: 4 hrs – 7.5 hrs
Trail Type: 50% Single Track & 50% Double Track
Aid Available @ 9KM, 22KM, 36KM & 42KM
CUT OFF 1 – Runners must pass thru the T-Junction Aid [22KM] by 1pm. Runners after the 1pm cut off will be assisted off the mtn & brought to the finish line.
CUT OFF 2 - Runners must arrive at the aid station at Moose Connector [36KM] by 2pm or they will be redirected to the finish line & will DNF
