Course Summary
Get ready for an epic adventure in Cañon City! All races start and finish at the Gunslingers Club at Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort, where you’ll be treated to some seriously breathtaking views.
As you run along the rim of the Royal Gorge, towering 900 feet above the Arkansas River, it’s not just the scenery that’ll blow you away—it’s the rugged terrain too. This place is known for its dramatic cliffs, steep drop-offs, and rocky trails that were carved out over millions of years. You’ll really feel the raw beauty and power of the landscape as you tackle those technical trails and rolling hills.
Just imagine the history beneath your feet as you cruise the rim! Known as the “Grand Canyon of the Arkansas,” the Royal Gorge was not only shaped by the river but also played a huge role as a key route for the early railroad back in the 1870s. You’ll literally be running through history!
With distances ranging from the 50K ultra to a fast 5K, there’s something for everyone—whether you’re up for the challenge or just soaking in the views, you’re in for a wild, rugged, and one-of-a-kind running experience!
Weather
The weather will be cooler and while snow is rare, it’s still a possibility in April (as 2023 proved to our runners). Please check the forecast ahead of race day. Runners may be required to carry essential gear. Race organizers will be keeping an eye on weather and may end or turn runners around at any point if deemed unsafe to continue.
