Overview
Welcome to the Smith Rock Classic! Join us for our springtime 50 mile, 50K, and 10 mile races that showcase the beauty of Smith Rock State Park. The towering basalt cliffs and views of the nearby Cascade range await you as you travel in and around the park. The courses also include miles in the Crooked River Grasslands - beyond the boundary of the park - that offer a different view of Oregon's classic high desert terrain as well as the fantastic scenery of the high peaks of the Cascades.
10M
The Smith Rock Classic 10M takes you to the top of Gray Butte for some spectacular views of Smith Rock and the Cascades! The course starts at Skull Hollow and follows single track up to the saddle where you will find Gray Butte aid station at mile 2.8. From the aid station, you'll continue onto the GrayButte trail around Gray Butte until the fun really begins! You will then climb up to the top of Gray Butte before taking the road back down to the saddle and returning via the Cole Loop trail. With 2200 ft of gain/loss, 50% single track, 50% dirt road, and one aid station - this will be an instant classic!
50M
The 50 mile course covers two 25 mile loops starting and finishing at Skull Hollow. The course crosses the bridge and climbs up to Smith Rock AS at mile 7.6. After that AS, you'll descend back to the river taking the River Trail to Summit Trail and eventually back to Gray Butte AS at mile 14.8. After a loop around Gray Butte and out into the grasslands, you'll return to where you started at Skull Hollow to a minimal AS vis the Cole Loop Trail. Loop one is complete!
