2026 Mt Sopris Run-Off - Sunday, May 17th
The Mt. Sopris Run-Off is the ultimate spring trail running experience — where flowy singletrack, mountain views, and a solid climb meet fast-flowing descents in one unforgettable race weekend. Whether you’re chasing personal glory in the challenging 28K or testing your speed on the scenic 10-Miler, this point-to-point adventure takes you up, over, and into the spectacular terrain from Flying Dog Ranch in Carbondale to Rock Bottom Ranch in Basalt.
The Mt Sopris Run-Off takes place in Carbondale, CO and offers two distances - 10-Miles and 28k
Historically this race has been a part of the Town of Carbondale's Mountain Fair Weekend in late July. In 2026, the race will take place on Sunday, May 17th as a part of a growing Trail Running Festival Weekend including an evening of films presented by the Trail Running Film Festival, a pre-race day shake out run and shoe demo, along with other events. Both distances will utilize the iconic "Up & Over" single track trail in a point-to-point race taking runners from the start at Flying Dog Ranch on Prince Creek Road up and over and ending at Rock Bottom Ranch in Basalt, CO. The 28k will start at 7:30am and the 10-miler will start at 8:00am. There will be a shuttle provided for runners from the City Market plaza in Carbondale, CO to the start line prior to each race. There will be no parking at the start line of the race. Additionally, there will be a shuttle bus running from the finish line at Rock Bottom Ranch back to your car in Carbondale. Many locals will also choose to drop bikes at the finish line to ride back to town as they desire on the Rio Grande Trail.
We will once again be hosting the Trail Running Film festival with new films for 2026 in conjunction with the race weekend. The Trail Running Film Festival will take place on the Saturday, May 16 of race weekend from 6-8pm. See race website for more details. (https://trailfilmfest.com). Come and stay in the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley for a weekend and enjoy everything that we have to offer.
POST RACE PARTY
Because the Mt. Sopris Run-Off is a point-to-point race, we highly encourage runners to pack a small bag with post-race clothes and comfort items to bring on the start-line shuttle. This bag will meet you at the finish line, so you can relax and enjoy the post-race scene in comfort.
Think dry layers, warm tops, comfy shoes, and camp chairs — anything that’ll help you settle in after giving it your all on the course. We are planning on having a live band plus a food truck waiting at the finish - so kick back, refuel, cheer on fellow runners, and soak in the good vibes while you celebrate a big day on the trails. 🌄🏁
We are NOT responsible for any valuables in the transportation of your drop bags.
NO DOGS WILL BE ALLOWED AT ROCK BOTTOM RANCH!
“All or part of this operation is conducted on Public Lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management”
