A word from our intrepid leader, Anthony Staples:
Back and more excited than ever to have our mountain running community return to Bolton Valley for the second annual Three Peaks Mountain Race on Sunday, October 1st. We had so much fun sharing the day with you all last year and will be using your feedback and the things we learned last year to make the second running of this race the best possible experience. Also, to continue our efforts to make a more inclusive and more accessible mountain race, this year we are going to add a 10k version for folks who might not want to run the long course. We will also be changing the long course slightly from 20k to 25k and runners can expect a touch more singletrack. Happy Trails!
After an incredible first year (2022 results here), we are thrilled to announce the 2nd Annual Three Peaks Mountain Race at Bolton Valley. Like last year, this year’s course will be designed by mountain local and running enthusiast Anthony Staples and will once again challenge all runners and hikers during Vermont’s legendary fall foliage season. Scenic vistas and a kaleidoscope of color will greet you as you move up and down a combination of work roads, cross country trails, raw ski slope climbs and some of our newly built lift accessed mountain bike trails. Please note that several areas of the race course are typically closed to any/all foot traffic, but will be open for this event that morning.
Course Info: We are finalizing this years planned course, but the current thinking is a 10k and a 25k race with somewhere around 4,000ft of vertical climb on the longer course. Please bear in mind there will be a cutoff time for racers to pass through the first two summits and Mountain Bike Park as we will be running lifts starting at 10am. More details on that coming soon!
Poles: You’ll be happy to have them in several places along the course.
Pro tip: in case you’re not aware, Vermont’s fall foliage season is an absolutely stunning time of year, but it’s also a VERY busy time for booking accommodations, restaurant reservations and the like, so we recommend you make your plans as early as possible)
Camping: You will be welcome to camp (free) with us in the Main Base Area (down in the in and around the lowest parking lot adjacent to the Sports Center and outdoor pool).
Food and Amenities: We of course have the slopeside hotel, but the race is scheduled during our busy foliage season, so there is a 2 night minimum and limited availability. Check availability here: https://www.boltonvalley.com/plan-your-trip/lodging/
We will also have several dining options available for families during the day and after the race.
Event's current local time: 7:44 AM ET
