🌕🐺 IT'S COYOTE TIME! 🐺🌕Mark your lunar calendars and charge those headlamps the Coyote is howling at the moon once again in 2027. And yes... we're embracing the Waning Crescent Moon beneath a sliver of moonlight?

Welcome to Coyote Two Moon 2027, where every runner can find their perfect flavor of suffering/ fun:

100mi

100K

55mi

55K

30K

10K

🎢 Want numbers?
100 milers: 26,000 ft. of climbing (Everest's elevation, but with tortillas instead of frostbite... hopefully)

100K: 17,000 ft. of gain (because flat courses are apparently too mainstream)

55mi: 15,000 ft. of climbing (your legs will leave a one-star review.)

55k: 8,030 ft. of climbing (it's only uphill... until it's downhill.)

30k: 4,968 ft. of climbing (proof that even short races can have big opinions.)

10k: 1,213 ft. of climbing (the hills still showed up uninvited.)

⏱ Cutoffs 100 mi and 100k have 42 hours, That's generous by ultrarunning standards. If you're a Coyote FourPlay alum, consider this your friendly public call-out. 😏

⏱ Cutoff 55 mi have 29 hours That's 1,740 minutes of adventure... and uphill.

⏱ Cutoff 55k have 15 hours

⏱ Cutoff 30k have 8 hours

⏱ Cutoff 10k have 8 hours

🏔 Location: Welcome to Ojai, California a bougie little hippie paradise where crystal shops sit next to wine tasting rooms and you'll probably leave with a vintage book from Bart's Books and a stylish new hat you didn't know you needed. Surrounded by Los Padres National Forest, Ojai serves up winding singletrack, rocky ridgelines, and climbs built to humble ultrarunners. It's basically trail running Disneyland.

🧠 BUT WAIT... There are only 200 spots total for every distance combined. Last year we sold out Don't be the runner refreshing the waitlist and bargaining with the trail gods. Sign up early.

🚨 Think You're Ready?

Eyeing the 100-Miler? You'll need to prove you've already made questionable life decisions. To qualify, you must have completed a trail 100K with at least 10,000 feet of elevation gain. Mountain legs required.

Going for the 100K? You'll need to have finished a trail 50K with a minimum of 8,000 feet of climbing.

No vert. No entry. These mountains don't care how fast your road marathon was:)

🌕🐾 Coyote Two Moon: Come for the trails. Stay for the Ojai vibe. Leave with dirty shoes, tired legs, and a story you'll be telling long after the blisters heal :)🌕🐾

Course

🎉 Get ready for an epic weekend of Type-2 fun and absolutely stunning trails! 🎉

🗓 Friday, April 30, 2027 Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!!
At 1700 (5:00 PM) sharp, we'll unleash the brave runners tackling the 100M and 100K distances.
Why start on Friday evening? Because we want you to experience one of the most incredible moments on the course watching the sun set from the top of Topa Topa. Nothing quite compares to standing on a mountain summit, soaking in the views. You’ll have the entire weekend to conquer this beast of a course. Pack your snacks, charge your headlamp, bring extra socks, and don’t forget your sense of humor. You’re going to need all of them. The snacks will disappear, the socks may get holes in them, but the humor might be the only thing carrying you through the final miles. Good luck. Have fun. Enjoy the sunset and sunrise .

🗓 Saturday, May 01 2027 The Vertical Party
Set your alarms because 0600 (6:00 AM) is when the 55-mile crew hits the trails.
Get ready for a beautiful adventure featuring 14,583 feet of elevation gain.

Then at 8:00 AM, the 55K runners join the party with a slightly more “relaxed” 7,713 feet of gain and you’ll be running, climbing, and taking in scenery so incredible you may briefly forget your legs are filing a formal complaint.
Bring your legs, your grit, and your sense of humor. The mountains are waiting.

🗓 Sunday, May 3rd — The Fast & the Fabulous

We’ll wrap up the weekend with a bang! At 8:00 AM, it’s time for the 30K and 10K runners to step up, send it, and show everyone how fast those legs can move after watching the ultra crew battle it out all weekend.

This is your moment to run fast, feel fancy, and finish before brunch. Whether you’re chasing a PR or show off those shiny new trail shoes you’ve been waiting to wear, this is your race.

But Sunday isn’t just about speed it’s also your chance to experience one of the highlights of the weekend: Summiting Topa Topa for the 30kers and cheering on the warriors still battling through the 100-mile and 100K courses. Take in the views, soak up the energy, and give those ultra runners the encouragement they need as they push toward the finish line.

Expect breathtaking scenery, big smiles, and just enough elevation to remind you that this is s not a casual stroll to your favorite coffee shop.

Come ready for fun, ready to celebrate, and ready to be part of something bigger than just a finish time. The weekend may be winding down, but the adventure isn’t over yet!

📍 IMPORTANT: Know Your Course, or Prepare to Star in Your Own Wilderness Documentary.

Listen up, trail warriors! It's absolutely critical that you know the flow of your race as in, where you’re going, when you're going there, and how not to end up in a neighboring zip code. We’ve put a ridiculous amount of effort into making sure you don’t get lost (seriously, like... we had meetings about it).

Here’s how we’ve got your back:
🔀 Turn-by-turn directions so detailed they’d make Google Maps jealous.
Color-coded ribbons for each distance follow your color, not someone else’s unless you're into bonus miles.
🪧 Clear signage at every intersection designed to be seen, even through your trail-runner tunnel vision at mile 72.

Bottom line: Know your route like you know your favorite aid station snack. Study it. Memorize it. helps. Because we’ve done everything but run the race for you. Now go out there, follow your color, trust the signs, and try not to become a trail legend for all the wrong reasons. 😅

Event Cancelation Disclaimer

🌀 Disclaimer Time: AKA “The Universe Is the Real Race Director” 🌀

At Coyote Two Moon, we’re charging ahead with optimism, trail shoes tightened, snacks strategically stashed, and headlamps ready to battle the darkness (and possibly our own questionable decisions). Our plan? Perfect weather, happy legs, strong spirits, and absolutely zero weirdness from Mother Nature.

BUT and this is a mile 80 stomach-cramp-sized BUT we all know the trail has a sense of humor. Sometimes life throws us a surprise climb, a rogue storm cloud, or a squirrel with an attitude problem.

While we’re doing everything possible to make this event happen as planned, the wild world we run in doesn’t always cooperate. Unforeseen challenges like extreme weather, forest conditions, trail closures, angry wildlife, or other “well, we didn’t see that coming” moments may require us to make adjustments.

That could mean:

• A course change (because apparently the trail had other plans)
• A time adjustment (because clocks are also afraid of the mountains)
• A reroute featuring a little extra “character building” adventure
• Or, in the rarest and most dramatic scenario, cancellation of the event entirely

👑 The Race Director has the sacred (and slightly terrifying) power to make whatever adjustments are necessary to keep everyone safe, mostly sane, and still smiling somewhere along the trail.

By signing up, you’re agreeing to embrace the chaos, adapt like a trail ninja, and accept that unpredictability is part of what makes ultrarunning beautifully ridiculous.

Thank you for your flexibility, your patience, your good vibes, and your willingness to laugh when the trail inevitably reminds us who’s boss.

Now go train hard, pack your snacks, and prepare for adventure. 🐺🌙

Refunds, Transfers, Deferrals

⚠️ Important Note from the Desk of Harsh but Loving Race Policies ⚠️
(Where the snacks are plentiful, but the refunds are not.)

No matter what happens rain, snow, a surprise heat wave, alien invasion, zombie apocalypse, or your cousin’s last-minute wedding in Ohio (Ojai gets a pass ) there are absolutely, positively, 100% no refunds and no transfers.

Not even if your legs suddenly file a formal complaint. Not even if you decide trail running is overrated and your true calling is competitive goat yoga.

We know life happens. Really, we do. But putting on an event like this is basically like trying to organize a herd of caffeinated mountain goats during a thunderstorm it takes a ridiculous amount of time, money, planning, patience, and a suspicious amount of coffee.

Once you click that beautiful little “Register” button, you’re in. You’ve made the commitment. The trail has accepted you. The adventure has begun. Blood pact style.
(Okay, there’s no actual blood pact. Please don’t bring a ceremonial knife. We have waivers for that.)

Can’t make it? We’ll all share a collective dramatic sigh. But don’t panic at the sole discretion of the Race Director, you may be allowed to defer your entry to next year’s event.

That’s a maybe, not a promise.

So please, with extra electrolytes sprinkled on top:
Do not email. Do not message. Do not send smoke signals. Do not release a highly trained carrier pigeon requesting a refund.

We will lovingly read your request while consuming snacks, staring into the distance, and gently shaking our heads.

Thanks for understanding, embracing the adventure, and being the wonderfully weird humans who make this trail community awesome.

Now lace up. Hydrate. Train hard. And prepare for glory. 🐺🌙
