Boulder Field 100

Route 534

Jim Thorpe, PA 100K, 50K, 18 Miler

This Event Took Place Sat. Sep 16, 2017

Over the last 15 years, Uberendurancesports has built a reputation for putting on well organized running events, many of them trail runs that are also beginner friendly. The Boulderfield 100K/50K/18M was created to offer a new, more challenging race to our runners. We do believe that every properly trained runner can tackle this challenge but it will be more difficult than our other trail races. Elevation is estimated to be about 4000ft per 50k loop. In addition to the rolling character of the course, you will encounter a boulder field crossing and a very rugged 1 mile trail section called the Shades of Death Trail. But it will not be quite as difficult as many of the races in the upstate PA area, so I would think it would be fair to describe this as a mid level difficulty course. There is a 16 hour time limit for the 100k & 14 hour for the 50k, which will make the shorter race hiker friendly. If this sounds like your kind of fun, please join us.

All runners have to finish before 9PM, 15.5 min per mile pace for the 100k. This also makes the 50k very hiker friendly. You have 14 hours for 31 Miles.

Aid Stations

Aid Stations (approx): Mile 5, 10, 12,19,25.5 (50K and 100K) 100K: Mile: 31,36,41,43,50,55.5 We highly recommend carrying at least 16oz of fluid to keep hydrated between aidstations. Gatorade and water will be available at all the aidstation. There will be the usual snacks and carbs to keep you fueled at the race (bring your own brand of gels, if you rely on them). All aidstations are staffed by experienced ultra runners,

Entire course is within Hickory Run State Park. Course is a figure 8 shaped 50K loop, 100k runners will run the 50k course twice.

90% of the course is a mix of single track hiking trails and some wider multi-use trails, only about 1 mile of (gravel)road.
Most of the trails are not considered super difficult by trail running standards, but especially the Shades of Death Trail section ( about 1 mile) and the boulder field crossing ( less then 1 mile) are very difficult.
