A Stroll In the Park 12-Hour Endurance Run
There’s nothing better than a timed ultra for runners to show what they can accomplish, particularly on Thanksgiving weekend. In its 8th year running, A Stroll in the Park Endurance Run provides runners a chance to test their mettle against the clock - for 12 hours. What a great way to work off all that pumpkin pie and those second helpings! As one runner said, "miles in this race are like potato chips, I wanted to do just one more!"
Registration and Race Information
Race registration is open only via Ultra Signup. **NOTE: Darkside Running Club Members receive a $5.00 discount when registering.
Packet/bib pick-up is on race day starting at 6:00 AM; there is no pre-race pickup and no mailing of race packets. Each runner will receive a plaque engraved with their name, a race t-shirt, and small cup for use at the aid station. Each runner will also receive a raffle ticket that will be entered into the drawing following the close of the race. Runners must be present to win; no prizes will be mailed or given to anyone other than the runner.
The race begins at 7:00 AM and ends at 7:00 PM. Only complete laps count. The course is on FLAT crushed gravel, one mile per loop. There are no rocks or roots to trip you and the soft surface is kind to your legs. The park is complete with restrooms, shaded areas, and plenty of parking. There are NO lights along the path during dark periods so we recommend bringing a head lamp to wear once the sun goes down. Wearing gaiters is recommended.
This park opened in June 2015 and is located within a residential community. The park is open to the public during daylight hours so you may get inquisitive looks and comments from passersby.
No refunds in the event of cancellation or drop.
Runner Aid and Lap Counting
There will be one aid station with drinks, cold and hot food, cookies, candy, and anything else we can think of. Pizza will be served around 12/Noon, and soup and grilled cheese sandwiches will be offered later in the day. Some vegetarian items will be included. As there is plenty of parking close to the course, there is ample room for runners to set-up chairs, small tables, and other self-support items.
Lap Counting is done by seasoned volunteers, some who are runners themselves. Only full loops count; if runners are in the middle of a lap at cut-off time (7:00 PM), only the last full lap completed counts toward final mileage. Counting is a manual process; we know mistakes may occur. If we miss a lap, we’ll take your word for it. Any discrepancies in lap counts will be decided by the Race Director.
The course is a one-mile FLAT crushed gravel loop inside Chattahoochee Pointe Park. Only completed laps count toward mileage. The course is located near the Chattahoochee River so in the event of rain or snow, there will be wet areas to navigate. For those who are not trail runners and prefer not to run on asphalt, this race is for you!
We need volunteers to assist with race set-up, packet/bib pick-up, lap counting, aid station support, and race site clean-up. Please let your family and friends know they can come with you to help out during the race! See the Volunteer Registration button next to Registration. Thanks!
Each 12-hour runner will receive a plaque engraved with their name at check-in, and an engraved plate with the number of completed miles will be mailed following the event. Please ensure your current address is in Ultra Signup when you register. Runners present at the race site at 7:00 PM are eligible to win one of several a raffle prizes that will be drawn at the close of the race.
