Welcome to the Southern California's oldest 50k - this is the Bulldog Ultra's 32nd year in the beautiful, scenic, Santa Monica Mountains!!

Come run the challenging Bulldog Ultra course on Saturday, August 17th! Choose from the 25k Trail Run or the 50k Ultra.

The course offers epic views of untamed terrain and of the endless ocean from single track and fire roads weaving through the mountains. Do not be fooled by the beauty of the mountains and allure of the ocean. Temperatures can reach triple digits in the canyons and the climbs are steep and long. Runners will experience the full power of beauty and the beast.

Step up to the trails, tackle a 50k, crush your past times, or race for the prize purse.

5:00am - Parking Lot Opens at Malibu Creek State Park
5:45am - Registration and Check-in Opens
7:00am - 50k Start
8:00am - 25k Start
9:00am - Beer Garden Pours
9:30am - Athlete Food Opens
11:30am - 25k Awards
1:00pm - 50k Awards
4:00pm - Course Closed

The Bulldog Challenge Series

  1. Start with the Red Rock Rumble 10k on 6/22 >> Results <<
  2. Work your way up to the Tough Mugu 25k on 7/20 >> Results <<
  3. Get a finish at the Bulldog Ultra 50k on 8/17

Rules for the Points:

  1. Points are awarded based on your finish time as a percentage time of the winner’s time in the race.
  2. The winner receives the maximum points (100), and everyone else gets a percentage of that maximum.
  3. Women and men are scored separately within their divisions based on the winning time in that division.
  4. A age group categories are scored within their gender based on the winning time in that gender
  5. Only the longest distances from all 3 races in the series are scored (10k, 25k, 50k).

Series Awards

  1. All Series Finishers: earn your adidas TERREX Bulldog Challenge Jacket when you cross the final finish line on 8/17.
  2. Age Group Points: the highest female and male scorers in each age group by 10-year categories
  3. Overall Series Champions: the highest female and male scorers based on the series points

    Winners of the 25k & 50k are invited to compete in the SoCalTrail Championships in December at the Crystal Cove Trail Run

    Winners of the 50k receive the Eternal Comp for free entries to the Bulldog Ultra as long as they live.

    25k Finish at 14.8 miles - 2,947’ of climbing complete

    CUT-OFF TIMES:
    11:00am - Start of 2nd 50k Loop (mile 14.7)
    12:15pm - Bulldog Lateral Aid Station (mile 18.7)
    1:30pm - Top of Bulldog Aid Station (mile 21)
    2:45pm - Top of Puerco Aid Station (mile 24.6)
    3:15pm - Tapia Aid Station (mile 27.3)
    4:00pm - 25k/50k Finish (mile 14.8/29.4)
    *Runners must leave the aid station by cut-off time or they may NOT continue. Strict sanctions will be placed against runners that continue on their own. Significant resources and time are required to monitor runners' safety while still on the course.

    Directions & Parking

    The Bulldog Ultra is located in Malibu Creek State Park
    1925 Las Virgenes Road
    Calabasas, CA 91302

    If arriving from the 101 Ventura Freeway:
    • Exit Las Virgenes Road - South.
    • Continue approximately 3 miles, past Mulholland Drive.
    • Turn right into Malibu Creek State Park.
    • If you hit Piuma Road, you went too far...turn around and go back!

    If arriving from the Pacific Coast Highway:
    • Go North on Malibu Canyon Road (directly south of Pepperdine University).
    • Continue approximately 5 miles, past Piuma Road.
    • Turn left into Malibu Creek State Park.
    • If you hit Mulholland Drive, you went too far...turn around and go back!

    FREE, off-street parking is available on Las Virgenes & Mulholland. Obey traffic laws and parking signs, keep all wheels off the road, don't leave valuables in vehicles, and watch for cars and bikes.
