The Sequoyah

The Sequoyah will take place at Pinson Mounds State Park on November 29, 2020. This fun day of races will include a marathon, half marathon, and 5K.

The marathon and half marathon will start at 8am.
The 5K will start at 2pm in the afternoon.

The course is an asphalt 2.91 mi loop that is pancake flat and fast. The marathon will consist of 9 loops and the half marathon of 4.5 loops. The 5K will be consist of one loop with a short out and back to reach 3.1 miles.

Spots are limited for every distance as parking is limited within the park to a certain amount of spots.

All finishers will receive a finisher's medal custom designed for The Sequoyah.

We have Covid-19 safety protocols in place to try to insure the safest possible event for runners, volunteers, and the race director.

Covid-19 Protocols


We are committed to following both federal, state, and municipal COVID-19 guidelines.

IF YOU ARE SICK, STAY HOME! Avoid the risk of infecting others. This applies to you, your support crew and your spectators. If you, or someone who you have been in close contact with, have tested positive or experiencing symptoms for COVID-19 in the past few weeks, please stay home and contact your local health authority to confirm the protocols you must follow.

Maintain physical distancing of at least 6-feet with volunteers, race organizers, other runners and their support crews during race weekend. When passing other runners, do your best to give them a wide berth. It might be tricky, but please try your best.

If physical distancing of 6-feet is not possible, please properly wear a face mask. All participants will receive a disposable face mask, and you will be required to wear it at the start of your race. Garbage cans and recycling bins will be located at each start line for easy disposal. Pack an extra face mask in your post-race bag, for after your race.

To minimize contact with volunteers, we have eliminated the race supported aide stations this year. Each participant in ALL races will be responsible for their own aide station/hydration system etc. Ask someone in your bubble to set up a table and hand you what you need while you run, use a hydration vest or carrying water bottles and gels etc. Whatever you choose to use, practice before race day so you are familiar with it. There will be designated areas along the course where you choose to set up your personal aide station (small table, chair etc.).

Support crews should have a mask with them at all times for use when they are around other people not part of your crew. Please make sure they bring their own masks, hand sanitizer, or any other Personal Protective Equipment as required.

In addition to the online waiver, you will be required to sign a COVID-19 specific waiver prior to receiving your race kit.

Please follow all of the above rules, and ask your support crew to do the same.

We will try to have extra masks and hand sanitizer available for runners, but you should come prepared to keep both yourself and others safe.
