Loon Mountain Race

Over the years the Loon Mountain Race has developed quite a following. The reputation as one of the country’s toughest mountain races is due in large part to the kilometer ascent of North Peak via the black diamond trail known as Upper Walking Boss. ‘The Boss’, as it’s affectionately known, is roughly a kilometer of grassy slope with angles that exceed a dizzying 40% grade!

*** As of right now this race is not going to be a race where spectators can attend. There is no day of registration - We will update this as the year progresses.***

Please sign the loon mountain resort waiver:

The Upper Walking Boss Challenge is presented by Northeast Delta Dental.

1) Waiver ;
Most of you signed this. Some of you had some issues that the parent company of Loon Mtn Resort said that it may be the work or mobile device you are on. If you could please try it again that would be great. You must sign this to race. If you do not you will be turned away.

2) Parking.
Due to construction at loon mountain we have lost a large section of our parking. We are begging and pleading for you to carpool.

3) How do we get down the mountain?
Just like in previous years the Gondola is an option. If you have done this race before, you know that the gondola line is long....and riding in a gondola with 3 other sweaty runners isn't a blast. So this year we will be marking the Service Road. If you would like a 1.5 mile run down a dirt road after the race this is now another option.

4) Course:
We posted in Social media last week, but incase you had missed it due to construction there are very small changes to the course. It is still 6 miles and it still has over 3,000 ft of gain. Yes you still have to go Upper Walking Boss. ( GPX file on website)

5) Spectators / Awards
At this time Loon Mountain resort is still saying no Spectators and no award ceremony. If you really want to cheer someone on during the race we suggest you Volunteer at one of the aid stations. This is currently the only way.
Sign up here to Volunteer:

6) Bibs
We will be mailing bibs to New England residents. We have been hearing horror stories about the USPS and delayed mail so we will keep the bibs for the runners who are traveling at the start line.

Thank you so much to everyone for rolling with the punches and hopefully the 2022 race we will be back to normal with a better parking situation, and an after party!
