2021 Status Update

As of 4/19/21 the race is happening and we have less than 50% capacity remaining.

About Loopy Looper

The Loopy Looper is held at Cooper River Park on a fast and flat loop that has great views of the Philadelphia skyline and the water. This is one of the fastest timed and looped courses in the country! Come see how loopy you can get.

Course

This is a 3.75ish mile loop on a paved running trail around a river. Mostly flat course with some gradual incline and 2 real hills.

Timing

Runners will have the hours of 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM to run as many laps of the 3.75ish mile loop around Cooper River Park as you want. Partial laps will not be counted, no new laps will be allowed to start as of 6:30 PM, and all loops MUST be completed by 7:00 PM for mileage to count.

This rule requires some level of strategizing for the runners.

Swag and Prizes

All 12-hour will receive a finisher award and shirt; and we will have a little something special for those that complete 10, 15, or 20 loops during the event. There will be awards for the top Male/Female of the event.

24-hour runners will get a shirt, some other race swag, and anyone that runs 100 miles gets a buckle

4-Person Relay Rules (12 hour only)

Relay teams are only allowed to have a maximum of 1 runner on the course at any point.

Runners will be allowed to run as many consecutive loops as they want to and can run in any order, but each team member must complete at least 1 loop.

Last Lap Exception: Teams are allowed to run their last lap all together to celebrate surviving the day, but this is the ONLY lap you can do, and it has to be the last lap of the day. This isn't mandatory, just an option for those teams that like to party with their friends

Drop Area and Aid Station

First off: To maximize safety and social distancing it would be super nice if you brought your own food/drink this year.

At the Start/Finish area at the stadium, there will be a drop/pit area for you to stash your stuff for the day and you can take as many breaks as long as you want during the event. No tents allowed larger than 10x10 and no alcohol is allowed on site.

Aid stations are going to be a little different this year overall. You're going to have to wear a mask/face covering when interacting with the volunteers at the aid station, and we will have sanitizer available as well. We are not going to have big bowls of food, sandwiches laying out, etc.. We will have some things in single serve packaging, and things will be available by request. Want a sandwich? Ask and a volunteer will make one. Yes, we know this is less than ideal and will slow you down. Plan for that.

We're still going to have water, soda, ice, etc..but we do not plan to have a ton of plastic cups for you at the aid stations sitting there waiting for you. Please plan to bring a bladder/pack, water bottle, or re-usable to cup to use for the day. Runners will NOT be allowed to fill their own containers. Runners must open their bladder/pack/cup and a volunteer will dispense drinks for you.

Deferrals and Refunds

We do not offer deferrals or refunds for this event.

If for any reason at all we are unable to host the event as planned we will defer registration to the following year.

COVID Stuff

We have extensive safety guidelines and protocols in place for this that were successfully put in place during our 2020 season. All runners are expected to comply with the guidelines around social distancing and face coverings as outlined in our guideline document which can be found on our website. (link above by the banner)
