About

This is a loop course on the Talladega Forest roads surrounded by forest and the Pinhoti Trail. The race starts at the infamous or not so infamous “Frog Pond Overlook” which is an overlook for you guessed it…no not frogs, BIRDS. The course is comprised of maintained dirt and gravel forest roads the entire loop.

This was Alabama’s first 100k trail race. So, what’s better than being the first 100k trail race? A NIGHT 100k trail race! Grab your headlamp (or Kogalla), reflective gear and get ready to run from sunset to sunrise.

All race distances start at 6:00PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The direction of the course will change each year. EVEN years, the course will run COUNTER CLOCKWISE. ODD years, the course will run CLOCKWISE. .

Finish line will have music, food, beverages. Hang out to watch the sunrise and to cheer the 100k runners to the finish with a mimosa. Let’s party like the Ultra rock stars you are first thing in the morning.

Packet Pickup

Packet pick up will be held on race day at the start from 3:45pm-5:45pm.

Other

I totally get that work gets in the way and injuries happen but there are NO refunds, deferrals or transfers. Money is spent on permits, insurance and swag well before the race. In the event of a forest fire or natural disaster, registration will be deferred to the next year.

In the event that you need or want to cancel registration or change distances BEFORE race day, you can do this by editing your registration. There will only be 200 spots available. Once it's SOLD OUT, there will not be a waitlist. The only way to get a spot in the race is for someone to cancel their registration. Once someone cancels their registration, Ultrasignup will open registration back up. There will be no notifications sent out. If you want to run, register early. This race sells out every year!

There will be 1 preview run before the race, Either in June or July and will be on a Saturday at 6pm (CST). An email will go out when a date is chosen. For constant updated race information, follow our Dirty Soles Trail Races Facebook page.

Giving Back

The Alabama Pinhoti Trail is a Southern Appalachian Mountains long-distance trail, 335 miles in length. We race, hike and enjoy the beauty of these trails thanks to the hard work of volunteers and the Us Forestry. A percentage of race registration will go to the Talladega National Forest.
