Description
Welcome everyone to the page for The Annihilator 50K. This race is brought to you by Bigfoot Ultras. The race will be held on August 30th 2014 at South Mountain State Park. The race will start at 7:30am promptly. Expect about 10,000' of vertical gain with an equal amount of loss. This race will have have very strict cut-offs and a race time limit of 10 hours.
Tent camping is available at the park on first come first serve basis. The closest lodging is about 30-40 minutes away in Morganton, Lincolnton, Shelby, or Hickory.
There will be no refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals.

Course
Location will be South Mountain State Park in Connelly Springs, North Carolina
Distance will be "approximately" a 50K
Elevation gain will be 10,000'+ but train for more! The elevation loss will be equal!
The field will have very low cap of 75 runners and I expect will sell out fast.
There will be strict cut-offs.
It is "recommended" to have completed a 50 mile race or a 50K with a minimum of 5000' of gain within the last year and half.
This race will be VERY difficult with ideal weather but in August it will be extreme! This race will have fully stocked aid stations but they will be spaced out from about 5-9 miles apart. You should be prepared for long DIFFICULT stretches between aid stations. A hydration pack is highly recommended for those that have trouble in the heat. I would not attempt this race carrying only one hand held bottle.
There is one paved section that is a little over a mile but it is a ridge top with nice views. The rest of the course is fire roads, technical single track, and LOTS of stairs.
