Course Description
Trail run on fire roads and single track that consists of some steep hills, technical footing in places, and outstanding views of Carson Valley and the surrounding mountains. The 21K will be 14 miles.
Registration
Pre-registration is available through Ultrasignup. Event cost, not including taxes and fees, 21K is $40 for adults, $30 for students 13-25y/o actively enrolled full time in school, 12 & under are free. 5K/10K is $30 for adults, $20 for students 13-25y/o actively enrolled in school, 12 & under are free.
Race day registration using cash or check 21K is $50 for adults, $40 for students, and 12 & under are free. 5K/10K is $40 for adults, $30 for students 13-25y/o, 12 & under are free. There will be a $5 fee added on for those using debit or credit card on race day. The student rate is reserved for those 13-25y/o who are actively enrolled in school full time, middle school to college. All runners will receive their bib# on race morning at check in.
Series Information
Jacks Valley Trail Rally, formerly Cold Turkey Run, is the second of three races in our new Fall Series. This series highlights the extensive trail networks surrounding Carson City, NV. It is a merger between Carson Canyons, a more traditionally structured trail race, and two of our former winter trail series runs Cold Turkey and Love Can Be Cold, which were more casual runs. Developing a format for this merger has been challenging. I really want to maintain the same vibe and atmosphere which was so popular in our winter trail series, but also provide more options of distances running in more mild temperatures that Fall brings. We'll see how it goes this year and make adjustments for next year. Your feedback is always welcome!
Awards
Nope. Ultimately that is not why we all run. Our rewards come in non materialistic form. Plus, this allows us to keep entry fees more affordable.
Participant Check-in
Bib #'s can be picked up race morning.
Dogs: Forest Service is requesting no dogs on course due to the sheep grazing for fuel reduction. Dogs are OK around the start/finish area, just not out on the courses.
Weather
We'll see what mother nature brings us this year.
Aid Stations
Aid stations! I know this will come as a big surprise to those of you who have participated in our Winter Traill Series for the past 15 years. But now that the WTS has been put to bed and we are beginning a new tradition in the Fall, we thought that with milder temps we could go longer distances and those longer distances will require aid stations. These stations will have water only.
5K & 10K: no aid
21K: 1 aid station at about mile 7.
Directions
From Reno: Take 580 South to the very end where it merges with Fairview. Take Fairview west until it T's at South Carson St. and turn left. Take Carson Street(395) south toward Minden/Gardnerville past the 50 West interchange. At top of hill approximately 1 mile past Hwy. 50, turn right onto Jacks Valley Road. JVES is about 2 miles down the road on the left. Park on the west side of the school in the dirt parking lot.
From Minden/G-ville: 395 N. toward Carson City. At top of hill by Home Depot and Target, turn left onto Jacks Valley Road.JVES is about 2 miles down the road on the left. Park on the west side of the school in the dirt parking lot.
From Carson City: Take Carson Street(395) south toward Minden/Gardnerville past the 50 West interchange. At top of hill approximately 1 mile past Hwy. 50, turn right onto Jacks Valley Road. JVES is about 2 miles down the road on the left. Park on the west side of the school in the dirt parking lot.
Parking
To maximize space, please park in rows in the open dirt lot North of the solar panel fencing. Should be plenty of parking. Please do not park in the paved parking area. Thank you!
