WE WILL REVERSE DIRECTIONS EVER 6 HOURS

Again this year runners will reverse directions every 6 hours. At the end of each 6 hour segment we will place a cone on the course at the timing mat. Runners will circle the cone and head back the way they came. This will make things more interesting. This also means you will not be able to stop at the aid station on the laps changing from clockwise to counterclockwise. Runners will be turned around before reaching the aid station. When changing from counterclockwise to clockwise, runners will be turned around before reaching the bathrooms. You will need to plan ahead!

ABOUT THE EVENT

Have you ever wondered just how far you could run in 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours or maybe over 2 days, (48 hours) or even 3 days (72 Hours) on a smooth, level surface? Well, here is your chance. The Endless Mile will be held at Veteran's Park in Alabaster, Alabama in Mid-October. The park is 26 miles south of downtown Birmingham, and 16 miles south of I-459. The address of the park is 7305 Highway 119, Alabaster, AL 35007. The course is USATF Certified and Sanctioned. It is a fraction over a mile in length, exactly 1.00203 miles. Runners will circle the paved and lighted path as many times as they can in the allotted time. The event will be electronically chip timed, instantly recording and displaying the exact distance covered. Run the race solo or start a relay team. Either way, Endless Mile will be an experience you will never forget. Solo runners that reach 100 miles will receive a 100 mile buckle.

Runners may choose to start the 24 hour, 12 hour or 6 hour on Friday.

WE HAVE ADDED A MARATHON AND 50K DISTANCE

We have added two more distance options to Endless Mile. We added a Marathon and a 50K. These distance are only for those that wish to run a marathon or 50K distance. Runners completing these events will be considered part of the event their time fits into. That is, if a runner in the marathon distance finishes in 4:33:10, their time will be included in the 6 hour results. If the marathoner finishes in 6:05, their time will be included in the 12 hour results. The 50K results will work exactly the same way.

Those wishing to run a marathon or 50K may start anytime, day or night, including Thursday morning with 72 hours runners. We count your laps, nothing else. Just show up and get your HuTag and let us know when you are ready to start. We will show you where to start. Please note, the Marathon distance will be long. The marathon will be 27 laps or 27.055 miles. The 50K will be 31 laps making it exactly 29.9 feet too long.

ENDLESS MILE TIMING

Again this year, we will be timing the race using HuTags for all distances. The HuTag is worn around your ankle with a soft neoprene strap held in place with Velcro. We suggest wearing crew length socks to prevent the HuTag from sitting directly on your skin. We will also have timing chips on the back of the bibs. Last year we had over 10,000 reads over the 72 hours. I only know of two missed reads. That said, check the TV monitor every lap to see that your lap was recorded.

Race Shirt Cutoff - October 9th

To be assured of receiving a race shirt, you MUST REGISTER BEFORE OCTOBER 10TH.
The order for the shirts will be turned on October 10th. Please do not wait until the last minute to register. Register by the 1st and avoid the Late Registration Price Increase.

The Course

The course is USATF Certified at exactly a 1.00203 mile loop through the park. You can't get much closer to a mile than that. The hiking paths are asphalt, very flat and smooth and winds along through wooded areas and past several lakes. Total elevation gain for each loop is about 12 to 15 ft. The 90 acre park also contains picnic areas, picnic shelters, two playgrounds, real restrooms with running water, soccer fields and a youth baseball complex. Some trails are shaded and will provide very pleasant running. Click on the link to the Endless Mile website (above) to find a Google Maps link to Veteran's Park in Alabaster. On the website you will also find more pictures of the park and short video lap around the course.
