General Information
New to trail running? Or looking for a fast trail run with some climbing close to home? Head over to Camp Sekani in Spokane on Saturday morning, July 8 for the Spokatopia 5k Trail Run. It's the perfect start to a day of Spokatopia festivities for first-timers and experienced trail runners alike.
This run is open to all levels of runners looking to explore the trails and get a workout before Spokatopia launches for the day.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Spokatopia 5k course is a true intro to the main elements of a trail run. From the starting line at the main Spokatopia festival site at Spokane's Camp Sekani Park, you cruise a half-mile warmup on the fun rolling ribbon of the Upchuck trail. Then it tilts up for a half-mile climb where you get to practice the first rule of trail running: “walk the uphill, run the rest.” Near the top of the ridge, you leave the vertical behind and take in views of the river and Spokane Valley for a mile and a half before plunging a pulse-raising half mile down Carousel and Simple Tools. Before you know it, you’re back at the finish line.
Join us at 7:30 to pick up a few quick tips at the free trail running clinic, then stick around and have a beverage in the Bikes & Brews garden (open at 10 a.m.) when prizes are given for first and second place male and female runners. Then enjoy Spokatopia with your Adventure Pass good for all activities (included as part of your race entry fee)!
COST: $25. Includes Spokatopia 5k bandana , beverage garden ticket, and Spokatopia Adventure Pass (I know! It’s an amazing deal!)
