About our event
Are you looking for a spring challenge? Trying to conquer a new distance? The third annual High Lea 6/12/24 hour race is waiting for you! The course is 3.0 miles with 237' of gain. Temperatures in late May in Richfield average between 58 and 78 degrees- great running weather! Most of the course is shaded and runs on 80% camp roads and 20% trail*** adjusted for course change*** The camp roads are not paved- they are gravel roads. Walkers & hikers are welcome at this event!
A portion of the proceeds will go to capital improvements at the Richfield Heritage Preserve.
New for 2024, we have added a 100 mile race and we will be moving the start back to 6:00 am. 30 hour cutoff for the 100 miler.
24 hour runners may have a pacer at the halfway point of 6:00 pm, and 100 mile runners may have a pacer at the halfway point of 50 miles.
Bling
Belt buckles for 100 mile and 100k finishers
Medals for running/hiking a minimum of 21 miles in the 6 hour, at least a 50k for the other distances
Moisture wicking T-shirts for all

Packet Pickup
Friday May 16 from 5:00-6:30 at the summer barn. 12 hour night race can pick up 4:30-5:30 pm on Saturday May 17. In Google maps, navigate to 3177 Oviatt Rd., Richfield OH 44286. This is the corner of Route 303 and Oviatt Rd. You must turn right on Oviatt and go approximately 1/4 mile and the entrance is on your right.
spectators
Spectators may park at the main entrance at 4374 Broadview Rd Richfield OH 44286. There is a kiosk with a map right at the parking lot in front of Gund Hall. Spectators can follow the pink flags to the start finish area or turn right at the large grass cut if they want a shorter .55 mile walk. Right on grass cut, down hill then back up and left where you see the pink flags again (you will be going the opposite way on the course here so please yield to runners). The park is open to visitors, so spectating is allowed anywhere in the park. Please abide by all park rules. Keep your dogs leashed and leave no trace!
Camping options
Camping will be available Friday night starting at 5:00pm at the summer barn.

Note: this is the route, but for the race it will be run the opposite direction and starting at the summer barn,(opposite side of the park- for training purposes, start where indicated as the summer barn entrance is closed until late spring). The bridge is out and will likely not be repaired in time for the race.
Aid station and camping
We will have all the usual aid station food & drink, all in grab & go containers as well as hot food overnight. Chips, pretzels, candy, gels, soda, sports drink, and water. We will have ramen or broth overnight as well as other hot foods and coffee. Aid station will be at the summer barn. The camping area and parking for the participants & campers will also be at the summer barn. Restrooms can be found throughout the park along the camp roads. The restrooms do not have running water- they are from the old girl scout camp.
Pricing
We have added a 100 mile race this year and will be starting an hour earlier. The 100 mile race will have a 30 hour cutoff. A portion of the proceeds will go to capital improvements in the park.

Timing
Race will be timed by Mid Ohio Race Management using a chip timing system. There will be a lap-o-meter at the start/finish line as well as a leader board. At the conclusion of the race, participants may choose to stop at the start/finish line or at the mid point of the course. Live tracking will be available at this event.
