The Summit 200
The Summit 200 is a dream race for us. The route we have planned is extraordinary in both its beauty and difficulty. Runners will run one 200-mile loop around Summit County, Colorado utilizing numerous stunning hiking trails in the area. They would also run on rec paths, forest roads, and short sections of pavement. The majority of this route is single track trail and forest roads. The beauty of this course is nothing short of breathtaking. And on the other hand, the route itself will take your breath away…as the LOWEST altitude is over 9,000 feet with sections surpassing the 12,800-foot mark. Over the course of the event, runners would gain (and lose) just short of 40,000 feet of elevation.
We are once again setting our cap at 100 runners so get in early if possible.
The overall cutoff time will be 110 hours (33 minutes/mile).
Refunds & Deferrals
DEFERRAL
Deferral Policy
We have reevaluated our deferral policy for The Summit and made a few changes. Our first-year policy was reflective of an event that was approved very late (only a few months prior). Our goal for our policy going forward was to compare other 200+ races and make our policy the most lenient. I think you will find that our policy is comparably very good (the best). You have until 3 months from the race to receive 100% deferral credit!
-100% credit 90 days prior
-75% credit 60 days prior
-50% credit 30 days prior
-25% credit 15 days prior
-YOUR CREDIT DOES NOT EXPIRE FOR 3 YEARS (rather than one), AND CAN BE USED FOR AS MANY ULTRAVERSE SUPPLEMENTS RACES AS YOU’D LIKE (rather than one).
-deferral credit cannot be gifted, no bib transfers
-all gear/swag ordered at time of registration will be added as race credit as well (not refunded)
-credit does not include taxes or ultrasignup fees
-pregnancy deferral – please notify us and you will receive 100% deferral credit all the way up to 30 days prior to the event. Within 30 days all deferral credits are the same as above. You will have 3 years (standard is 2 years) to use your credit.
-no refunds
As you can see, we have worked hard to provide you with the most lenient deferral policy amongst the major non-repetitive 200’s. The last thing we want is for you to invest a significant amount of money into our race, and then, from no fault of your own, lose that money. Please understand that the expenses for a race start LONG before the race happens, and this is a very expensive race to host. Under no circumstance will ANY exceptions be made to any of these dates, no matter the reason (besides pregnancy). This applies to injury, unforeseen scheduling conflicts, personal issues, military leave, or whatever else may come up.
Event Cancellation or Date Change
In the event of cancellation, runners would receive 100% race credit that can be used for ANY Ultraverse Supplements Race (including The Summit the following year). If the date is changed, you will be automatically moved to the new scheduled date. However, you will be given 72 Hours to notify us if you cannot attend. In which case, you would be given 100% credit to next year’s event or any Ultraverse Supplements event.
IMPORTANT RULES AND CONSIDERATIONS
*This is by no means a complete list of rules. Just some that we felt should be highlighted prior to registration. The runner’s manual (when ready) will have a complete list of rules. There are no exceptions to ANY rules, so don’t bother asking. Inquiries made about rules that have already been made clear, will be ignored. The rules are in place for runner safety, fairness amongst runners, and for permitting regulations. Breaking these rules compromises the entire race and will lead to disqualification on the first offense. Breaking rules that compromise runner safety and/or negatively impact permit approval will also result in being blacklisted for all Ultraverse Supplements races indefinitely.

This is a legitimate, high-altitude, mountain race. It is highly recommended that you spend some time acclimating to high altitudes prior to attempting this.
You are required to have a finish of 100-miles or greater to register for this race. If your ultrasignup account shows a record of this, simply register normally. If you have satisfied this requirement outside of ultrasignup, please send us the necessary information to prove your eligibility – race name, RD, and proof that you finished.
There will be long sections without aid. Crew areas will be few and far between – possibly only 3-4 on the entire route. We don’t want to cause tremendous congestion in sensitive permitting areas from crew, therefore only suitable areas will be crew accessible. It is likely that the first crew accessible area will be at least 70 miles into the race to prevent congestion. You will be self-supported for long stretches throughout the race. Comparable races are completed frequently without crew, so consider each crew-accessible aid station as a bonus.
You will be required to carry certain things throughout the entirety of this event. Weather can change rapidly in the mountains. You are required to carry a water filter, a rainproof jacket or poncho, a hood or beanie, a long sleeve jacket, gloves, long pants or tights to cover your legs, an emergency/space blanket (or poncho), a wag bag, a whistle, and a minimum of 1.5 liters of water carrying capacity. These requirements can change at our discretion, at any time.
You are also required to carry a GPS tracking device (provided by us) and a GPX of the course on your cell phone. You will be required to show us that you know how to use the GPX at check-in.
At any point during the race, we can hold runners at an aid station due to weather or potential hazards at our discretion.
No campers, trailers or excessively large vehicles will be allowed at crew accessible areas. Vehicles MUST fit in a standard parking space. No vehicles that won't fit in one parking space will be allowed. Additionally, each runner is allowed ONE crew vehicle at an aid station, no more. There are no exceptions to these rules. Crew must understand these rules and follow them, otherwise they will disqualify their runner.
A more comprehensive list of rules will be included in the runner’s manual.
